PSOE: "The PP has taken the users of the Cercanías trains to support every day a shameful and unsustainable situation" (23/05/2018)

The Lorca socialists again denounce the Third World situation that have to endure hundreds of travelers every day to suffer the consequences of the continuous breakdowns of trains, delays in the departure and arrival of convoys, lack of air conditioning and regret that the PP look on the other hand, abandon the users, and shield itself in the electoral brand of AVE trains.

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, along with socialist councilor David Romera have denounced the situation "shameful and unsustainable" which has reached the suburban service in Lorca for years of "neglect and policies of patches "by the Popular Party.

For Mateos, if the AVE must be claimed, the commuter network also, since it is the "most used" transport, especially among students, workers and citizens who, on a daily basis, have to go to other municipalities to carry out procedures and managements

Mateos says that "the situation that have to endure every day hundreds of users of Lorca and the Region of Murcia who use to move the commuter trains that cover the line between Murcia, Lorca and Eagles, is shameful and unsustainable because they have to suffer every day the faults that disable trains that are overcrowded at peak times and are more than 35 years old, the continuous delays in the departure and arrival of convoys to the different stations and the lack of air conditioning.

On the other hand, David Romera has indicated that the users of the trains of Cercanías "no longer can with this situation, because the precariousness of the service of Cercanías directly affects their daily life, because they arrive late to the classes of the university in Murcia or in Lorca, or their work centers ", so this issue has become" a serious social problem that the PP, far from solving, is worsening with its railway policies, which consist of neglecting conventional public transport , which is the most used by the population, with the arrival of discarded trains from other lines of Spain that provide a service even worse than the previous ones because they are designed for Medium Distance and not for the Cercanías ", so it has reached "a limitless and unsustainable situation" that hundreds of travelers suffer every day, "to which we must respond to their demands and not punish them with the torture that now involves riding a train."

The socialist mayor recalls that the Cercanías in the Murcia-Alicante core have lost more than 816,000 passengers between 2012 and 2016 as a result of "the marginalization that the PP has subjected to the service of Cercanías and its users", given that "since more than twenty years, the PP has shielded itself in selling as electoral propaganda that the arrival of the High Speed was going to solve the problems of the railroad in Lorca and in the Region of Murcia, obviating any modernization in a transport system, the Cercanías, that today is obsolete and has entered a new phase of dismantling ".

Romera has indicated that this dismantling of the Cercanías service is reflected in the last change made in the trains that circulate along the Murcia-Lorca-Águilas line: some 594 series of motor vehicles that are designed to do Media Distance services and not for make Cercanías journeys, which are longer, which is generating many inconveniences to the users: they are much smaller than the traditional, they have only 104 seats with two access doors and very narrow, so these trains "are always overcrowded at peak hours ", while having problems in the air conditioning (is undersized), and suffer continuous breakdowns that disable the convoys," not being the workshops of Murcia prepared to solve such breakdowns to be insufficient technical and personnel means available. "

The latest breakdowns have caused users "have been up to more than an hour with the train stopped in the middle of the field," which "is unbecoming of a modern society."

Romera insists once again to the PP that "listen to the users of the commuter trains and give an effective solution to their demands with the provision of a fast, comfortable and dignified service, and not be shied away in the arrival of the High Speed to the Region of Murcia to proceed with the dismantling of the Cercanías lines ";

also that "the modernization of the railway system between Murcia, Lorca and Águilas should be carried out as soon as possible with the splitting and integral electrification of the line, the renewal of the trains with the use of other new generation trains and the integration of the new railway corridor to its passage through the city of Lorca with the integral burial of the tracks along 4.3 kilometers between Apolonia and the exit of the Águilas Highway.
