Sixto (IU) will ask for protection from the president of the Congress so that the Government can respond for the return of earthquake aid (26/05/2018)

Meanwhile, the owners of a manor house in Lorca, subsidized with 428,000 euros, will sell the building, converted into luxury flats, in parts.

The works, which have not yet finished, should have been completed and justified two years ago.

"Does anyone think that the PP is going to ask its owners to return even a hard?" Asked the councilor of IU, Gloria Martín

The national deputy of IU, Ricardo Sixto, has asked for the protection of the president of the Congress, Ana Pastor, so that the battery of questions that the parliamentarian addressed to the Government of Spain on February 8, in order to clarify what is related to the massive procedure to reimburse earthquake subsidies, be answered.

According to the Regulations of the Congress, the answer to the written questions must be made within twenty days following its publication, which took place on February 19.

The written response of the Government has already accumulated 76 days of delay.

Sixto, who yesterday participated in Lorca in an assembly of the affected platform with the councilors of IU, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martin, and the local coordinator of this training, José García Murcia, announced that he has asked Pastor to order that the question is included in the agenda of the next session of the permanent Commission, where it will receive the oral question treatment and must be answered personally by a member of the Government, as established in article 190.2 of the House Rules.

The national deputy of IU criticized harshly that seven years after the earthquakes, the central government and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, raise a procedure for the reimbursement of aid "inflexible, intolerant and insensitive."

"If it is they who, intentionally and by electoral interest, have delayed for years the verification of the use of subsidies, now they have the obligation to facilitate that task to those affected," he said.

"At this point they can not come up with a missing seal or force those affected to obtain duplicate invoices from companies that do not exist anymore," he said.

Therefore, he demanded that the CARM and the State proceed to verify the completion of the works through technical visits and to close the files "because this is also possible in the decree that regulated the aid".

Ricardo Sixto regretted that the Popular Party is treating the victims affected by the return of aid as if they were "swindlers", when the vast majority of Lorca spent the aid money to repair their homes to return to them, such and As recognized by the councilor of the earthquakes, Saturnina Martínez (PP) after the supervisions being carried out by municipal technicians.

The national parliamentarian regretted that some aid initially solidarity have become a real ordeal that has the affected prisoners in a bureaucratic tangle.

An extemporaneous procedure, chaotic and riddled with irregularities by which nobody in the regional or state government has assumed responsibilities.

Luxury apartments in subsidized manors

The councilor of IU, Gloria Martin, lamented that the PP is baiting with the weakest, who are the affected ones who had an underinsurance or lacked it because the earthquake struck Lorca in the hardest years of the economic crisis, with a citizens seriously affected by unemployment.

In contrast, Martin denounced cases such as the palace of the Irurita, a manor house "made dust long before the earthquakes" and whose owners received a grant of 428,000 euros for its restoration after the earthquakes.

Martín denounced that the owners are going to take advantage of this subsidy to sell their property "in parts" by converting it into "luxury flats" thanks to public money.

But, in addition, the regional government granted the subsidy to the owners of the Casa de los Irurita three years ago (Decree No. 82/2015, of May 22).

The deadline for the execution of the proceedings was 15 May 2016 and the justification of the expenses and payments should have been made in the following three months.

"Two years after the deadline, the work has not finished, but I put my hand in the fire to which neither the CARM nor the City Council will require the owners to return even a hard," Martin said.

The property has not complied with the obligation to indicate on the posters that the work is carried out with funding and with the collaboration of the Directorate General of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
