The Councilor for Public Safety of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez Martínez, has reported on an action of interest made by agents of the Prevention and Local Operational Response Unit, UPROL, last Friday in the framework of an operational control device and that It ended with the arrest of a person for an alleged crime against public health.

On the afternoon of May 25 the agents had established a control in the area of ​​the New Placica when the driver of a tourist, upon noticing the police presence, tried to evade control quickly.

When warning the maneuver the agents blocked their trajectory and intercepted it, proceeding to the identification of their occupants.

As a result of the search in the vehicle, agents discovered a hidden compartment under the seat of the vehicle in which a 51-gram hash tablet was hidden, a certain amount of cocaine and money divided into bills of different value, indicating that the substances were destined to drug trafficking.

For this reason, the 26-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested.

In the same way, the agents proceeded to the identification of the person who was traveling as a passenger in the tourism, proving that he had in force a judicial request issued by a Court of Lorca.

The two subjects had numerous police records, including drug trafficking, crimes against property, fraud and receiving.

Both the detainee and his companion were placed at the disposal of the National Police of Lorca, a body that continues with the corresponding procedures to clarify the facts and make them available to the Judicial Authority.

The Mayor stressed that "this is a new action that highlights the importance of random controls to ensure safety in the municipality, this time getting the withdrawal of substances that threaten public health. our congratulations to the participating agents, as well as thanking the constant collaboration of the State security forces and bodies, as is the case of the National Police on this occasion ".
