The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil Jódar, has presided this morning from the balcony of the Town Hall the Touch of Town Councils and Anthem of Ministers that traditionally announces in the City of the Sun the procession of Corpus Christi.
This traditional civic-religious act dates from the late eighteenth century and is celebrated on the eve of the Corpus Christi to summon Lorca and Lorca to the procession that will take place on Sunday June 3 from St. Patrick, after the celebration of the previous mass that will begin 7:00 pm
The act began with punctuality at 12 noon with the music of the Anthem played by the minstrels from the Chapter Rooms of the former Collegiate of St. Patrick;
this has been answered by the clarineros from the balcony of the Consistory, repeating the ceremony three times and inserting the chimes from the tower of San Patricio.
Dating back to the last third of the 18th century, the sounds of the Cabildos' Toque of the clarineros of the Council and the March of Ministriles make up the Anthem of the City of Lorca since it was approved by the Municipal Plenary of the City of Lorca on February 23, 1994
As the historical sources attest, since the 16th century there were ministrile musicians at the service of the Council of Lorca, whose function was to assist in the name of the city all those religious ceremonies or other solemn public acts to receive and dismiss the Corporation with the sones of the three chirimías and the sacabuche that were the instruments that were part of the minstrels.
In the same way, the Council also had clariners;
These musicians were part of the representative cortege of the Council when attending solemn ceremonies such as Holy Week, liturgical celebrations in honor of the Virgen de las Huertas, Corpus Christi procession, etc.
