The PSOE claims more shadow areas in schools and colleges of the municipality to combat high temperatures (08/06/2018)

The delay in the installation of the necessary pergolas in the schools of the municipality responds to the inability of the Mayor and his team to demand from their heads of the Autonomous Community that these investments arrive as soon as possible.

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has returned to claim more shadow areas in the schools and colleges of the municipality "necessary to combat high temperatures."

In addition, has requested that during the holiday period when the works for the covering of the slopes of the three centers that have been selected this year, in order to avoid possible inconvenience.

The mayor has commented that the Shadow Plan, announced in June 2017, only includes actions in 25 schools throughout this year 2018 because, according to the general director of Centers, after the diagnosis made throughout 2017, the 80 % of schools in the region already have shadow areas.

In this regard, Mazuecos has asked the PP to clarify "where they have obtained the data" because only in our municipality "12 percent of the centers have these areas."

The socialist mayor has reproached the PP that if more than three years ago promised a plurianual plan to cover tracks in his "famous White Paper", with the pace they carry, "the municipality would take time to finish covering the tracks of the entire the centers in 25 years, "he says.

A significant proof of the lack of commitment of the PP to apply measures to help alleviate high temperatures in the centers has been seen with the opening of the outer campus of the IES Ros Giner and Ibáñez Martín, "where they have eliminated almost all the trees of this zone ", leaving" a few square meters of shade ".

Faced with this lack of disability of the PP, especially when it comes to demanding the necessary resources to the Ministry of Education, from the PSOE in Lorca say that "it will be a reality the covering of sports tracks and shadow areas in schools Lorca ".

The mayor insists that his intention is to be "demanding" with the Ministry of Education, and ensures that they will be "from day one from next year, claiming for Lorca and Lorca what is fair."

"From the town hall, when the PSOE is in the local government, we will achieve that the educational centers of Lorca have pergolas or covered tracks, in the shortest time possible."

"We do not know what López Miras understands as ambitious, an Infrastructure Plan that for Lorca only contemplates 1 of 116 actions"

As for the Educational Infrastructure Plan 2018-2019, of 20 million, which will undertake 116 actions, according to the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, "we do not know what he means by ambition when he achieves for our municipality only one of those 116 actions" .

The mayor points out that while new schools and institutes are being built in the Region, and extensions and reforms are being made, in Lorca there are schools like La Campana that needs an extension, or Coy, where they have to "pile up" their students in classes because of the heat that it makes in one of the sides of the school.

Mazuecos warns that the consolidation of the university profile will only come with the implementation of the third degree and the second phase of the Campus

The councilor of the PSOE ensures that the consolidation of the university profile of Lorca will only come with the implementation of the third degree and with the construction of the second phase of the Campus.

The mayor celebrates that the Universidad del Mar continue to offer courses on the Lorca campus, but regrets the level of "conformism" of the governing team of the Popular Party, which insist that the University of Lorca needs "much more" for consolidation.

The implementation of the "promised" third degree is still pending, which has also been requested in several plenary sessions at the initiative of the PSOE.

Titling, he warns, for which it would not be necessary to expand the current campus facilities.

In addition, Poncemar is waiting for the Hydrographic Confederation to draft the report that guarantees the supply of potable water necessary to authorize the construction of the expected Day Center. In this sense, it has once again urged the Mayor to mobilize to achieve a simple paper that carry "a year waiting".
