The Town Planning Department solves the procedures for the start-up of two new photovoltaic energy production plants on 130,000 m2 of land (15/06/2018)

These are two plants that would be located in the hamlet of Barranco Hondo, producing a total of 9 Mw (equivalent to the consumption of 12,500 inhabitants).

The forecast presented by its promoters estimates investments of 4 million euros.

The Town Planning Councilor in the City of Lorca, Saturnina Martinez, has reported that the production of photovoltaic energy in our municipality has registered news, as is the case of the approval by the Local Government Board of exceptional authorization for interest public of two solar plants of these characteristics, called Duque I and Duque II.

We are talking about facilities that would settle on undeveloped land

Satur Martinez explained that the main objective that the Local Executive maintains for the development of this type of projects, which would help to stimulate the labor market and generate sustainable and clean energy, is to accelerate to the maximum all the procedures that depend on this City Council.

In fact, the granting of this authorization has been achieved in record time, shortening to the minimum possible term the preparation of the technical documentation that the company has needed to request from the CARM the declaration of public interest.

The Councilor for Urbanism has indicated that the commitment of the Municipal Administration for the development of solar energy facilities in our municipality is firm and determined.

The plants to which we refer today are adjacent to each other and are located in the Diputación de Barranco Hondo, specifically in the place known as the Hacienda de la Quinta or Cañada del Burro, located near the Rambla de los Arcos.

We can anticipate that all the necessary aspects, such as the non-interference of future communications infrastructures, among other considerations, have been taken into account in order to fix their definitive place of implementation.

Satur Martinez has said that it is a land classified as undeveloped land in the current General Plan, which is allowed the installation of energy infrastructure.

It is non-developable land in the vicinity of the Sierra de Tercia.

The City Planning Edil has anticipated that, according to the documentation provided by its promoters, the power of the plants is the same, each of them counting with a total generation capacity that reaches 4,586 Kw (4,5 Mw ), and have 14,560 photovoltaic panels each.

Each facility will occupy an area of 65,000 m2 (6.5 hectares) and will have all the elements of a solar plant (transformers, inverters, monitoring and sectioning center).

It is expected that the energy produced will be evacuated using the medium voltage line of 20 kV L / Serrata.

The estimated investment for each of the plants is around 2 million euros.

It should be noted that once approved by the Local Government Board, a minimum term of 20 days of exposure to the public is established, through publication in the BORM and subsequently sent to the General Directorate of Urbanism of the CARM, the competent body for continue with the processing legally required for this type of facility.
