The Deputy Speaker of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez Jódar has announced that his group will again demand the Mayor, this time during the next municipal Plenum, not to "let die" the building of the former National Police Station, located in Plaza de San Vicente, and order its value, as a revulsive of the commercial area of ​​the area.

Sánchez Jódar recalls that the closure of the former National Police Station and its transfer to the new premises in Sutullena, meant an improvement in the physical conditions for the provision of the National Police service, after the old property was seriously damaged by the earthquakes of 2011.

However, the mayor points out, her transfer to Sutullena meant, at the same time, "one more blow for our battered Historic Quarter", insofar as it "meant the exit of another public service from the center of the city, to the detriment, especially , of the commerce of the zone ".

Since this property was closed in 2016, the PSOE has taken the initiative in terms of proposals for its rehabilitation and enhancement.

Among the proposals, the Socialists requested that the DNI issuance office be maintained, since this service attracted dozens of users every day to the area, for the benefit of the hospitality industry and nearby commerce.

A proposal that the PSOE does not abandon, and also, in an exercise of "coherence" will continue to vindicate the Government Delegation, to be state competition "although the Government of Spain has changed political sign."

"We are not going to stop demanding what is fair and necessary for Lorca, govern who governs in Madrid," he adds.
