The Guevara Palace, the Church of San Francisco and the Chapel of the Rosary will host the concerts of the II International Course of Ancient Music of Lorca (27/06/2018)

The action is aimed at singers, instrumentalists, students, professionals and groups specialized in historical interpretation.

Instrument and chamber classes, taught by expert teachers in the field, will be developed in the Municipal School of Music, with the exception of the baroque organ class that will take place in the Church of San Francisco

The Councilman of Culture of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, and the president of the Association of Musical Heritage and Friends of Music of Lorca, Antonio Manzanera, presented this morning the II International Course of Ancient Music of Lorca, to be held in buildings emblematic of the city from July 1 to 5.

Agustín Llamas explained that "the International Course of Ancient Music of Lorca is aimed at singers, instrumentalists, students, professionals and groups specialized in historical interpretation.For five days the technical and stylistic issues of the repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries will be addressed. With special emphasis on chamber, vocal, instrumental and orchestral music, in addition to individual instrument tutoring, teachers will also teach chamber music classes, both to the groups that are formed during the course and to those that have been trained. registered as such, in which instruments such as oboe, bassoon, lute, viola da gamba, etc. It should be noted that if the characteristics of the students allow it, a baroque orchestra class will also be established during the course ".

The Councilor for Culture has pointed out that "the professors who will teach this course are prestigious musicians trained in ancient music, among them Pedro Pérez, expert in historical singing, Andrés Alberto Gómez, key and bass expert, Javier Artigas, organ expert and bass, Agostino Cirillo, expert in baroque traverse and flute, Pavel Amilcar, expert in baroque violin and orchestra and Josetxu Obregón, expert in baroque violoncello.

Llamas added that "the instrument and chamber classes will be taught at the Municipal School of Music, with the exception of the baroque organ class that will be held at the Church of San Francisco." The presentation of the course will take place on June 30 at 7:00 pm at the Palacio de Guevara, while the classes will run from Sunday, July 1 to Thursday, July 5, in the morning and afternoon, the teachers' concert will take place on Tuesday, July 3 at 9:00 pm at the Palacio de Guevara, the Concert of students and chamber groups on Wednesday, July 4 at 21 in the Church of San Francisco, and finally, the Concert Final Project of the Course will be held in the Chapel of the Rosary on Thursday, July 5, also at the 21 hours ".

The Edil de Cultura stressed that "this International Course of Ancient Music of Lorca, which is already consolidated in our city, aims, among other things, to make live Lorca and visitors to live ancient and baroque music using monumental and historical spaces, to rescue and publicize works by Lorca authors or those related to Lorca, as well as to dynamize culturally ancient monuments of our city ".
