The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, attended this morning a healthy lunch by users of the Association Down Lorca to inaugurate the kitchen that will have this group to conduct workshops healthy lifestyle.

The same has been facilitated by the Consistory lorquino through the signing of an agreement to provide furniture and new technologies the headquarters that this association has in our city Lorca.

Fulgencio Gil explained that "the healthy breakfast was made by Inma, María, Mari Huertas and Mario, four users of the Service for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy (SEPAP) developed by Down Lorca, who are between the ages of 20 and 25 years old. The main objective of these cooking workshops is that children can continue to train and take an active part in their lives, participating in this activity will learn to take a healthy and varied diet, to buy food, to take advantage of punctual offers, to know the importance to look at the expiration date of the products as well as the risks and consequences of not checking it, as well as to learn how to handle food in the kitchen and the different types of preparation of the same product, among other aspects.

The Mayor of Lorca said that "from the City of Lorca we will continue to support projects and initiatives of social inclusion and personal autonomy, as we work on it convinced of its high profitability and social advantage." In fact we are very honored to work with Down Lorca because it is a collective that always goes one step further in the projects it materializes, fostering inclusion and respect through coexistence.We will continue to support this group in all that is necessary since it is very important that There are this type of associations to support families that have or may have members with these diseases. "

Gil, in this regard, stressed that "Down Lorca has since today a headquarters with better benefits where we can continue to provide its users with the services, programs and therapies that had already been offered these five years since it was founded in February 2013. The local, with an area of ​​180 m2, has an office for social work, another for secretariat and administration, two rooms of speech therapy, a room of pedagogy, a TVA room (Transition to Adult Life), a room for SEPAP (Service of Promotion of Personal Autonomy) with room for 8 people, two toilets, one of them adapted for people with reduced mobility, and a new kitchen in which users will make fantastic healthy recipes.

Currently, the Down Lorca Association has 21 users, ranging in age from 2 to 25 years old, attending to their needs individually and collectively.

The Association also offers services such as social work, administration and secretariat, SEPAP, family reception, myofunctional therapy, speech therapy, school support, cognitive stimulation, group workshops, transition to adult life and a summer school, among others.

It also has numerous professionals such as a social worker, two social educators, two speech therapists and a pedagogue who are responsible for carrying out activities with users and design individual development plans for each person in collaboration with the family.
