The Mayor of Lorca exposes the Delegate of the Government the need to maintain in 2019 the 50% bonus of the IBI to those affected by the earthquakes (06/07/2018)

Fulgencio Gil receives Diego Conesa at City Hall to hold a meeting that he described as "pleasant and cordial", underlining that both administrations have to continue working together because "what matters is Lorca and the Lorca."

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has received this morning at City Hall the Delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Diego Conesa, with whom he has held a working meeting in which several municipal councilors have taken part along with those responsible of the Government Delegation itself.

The First Edil stated that it was a particularly pleasant and cordial first meeting, of great receptivity that has served to carry out a general supervision of projects and issues of different subjects that have direct involvement with the General State Administration.

This session has helped to establish a climate of mutual collaboration and institutional loyalty, as we represent administrations that seek to respond to the common interest raised in the demands of all Lorca.

Fulgencio Gil, going into detail, has indicated that one of the issues considered a priority by the Lorca company in terms of infrastructures is the beginning of the construction work of the new Palace of Justice.

It is a project that involves the investment of 10 million euros, decisive in the project we are developing in our city.

The Lorca are carrying out the battery of investments and improvements broader in history, achieving a strong Lorca and that has more and more energy.

We have a municipality project that will enjoy a long journey, whose horizon goes beyond 2025 with serious vocation for the future.

Within this new Lorca the construction of the Palace of Justice is a real milestone.

In this way our subregional capital increases its strength, while the weight of Lorca as head of the county and unquestionable reference in and outside the Region of Murcia, increases thanks to the joint effort of our society.

The Mayor has transferred to the Government Delegate the need for these works to begin as soon as possible, so that the new building can enter into service as soon as possible, responding to the request of the group of professionals in the field of justice.

The First Edil has also exposed the need for the General State Administration to respect the progress made and commitments made for the arrival of the AVE to the city, including the dates already foreseen for the bidding and adjudication of works, the burial of the railway line as along the entire urban fabric, as well as the construction of a new station to replace the current San Diego stop and the undergrounding of the platforms of Sutullena.

We are talking about a project that will allow the recovery of the connection with Andalusia, and that for Lorca society constitutes a social, tourist and commercial dynamisation opportunity of extraordinary importance.

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that parallel to this project, Lorca also deserves to improve the suburban train service, a work in which progress is being recorded, and we hope that it will evolve in a positive way.

The Mayor has raised the need to continue moving forward jointly in the care of those affected by the earthquakes that seriously damaged the city in 2011. It is a matter that requires the intervention of public administrations in two main areas, as they are the justification of the use of the helps and the maintenance for 2019 of the bonus of 50% of the IBI.

Other issues that have been raised by the Mayor of Lorca have been the authorization by the Government Delegation for the installation of surveillance cameras in the urban area with the aim of addressing certain vandalism behaviors, and the development of new infrastructure that allow to guarantee the water to the farmers of our region.

XXV anniversary broadcast Good Friday TVE

Fulgencio Gil has requested the support of the Government Delegation to continue promoting the candidacy of the Lorquino Embroidery and its Staging in the Biblical-Passional Parades of Holy Week for its declaration as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

We are talking about a matter of special importance for the whole municipality, which would contribute to strengthen Lorca socially, culturally and touristically, and which, in addition, constitutes one of the most important challenges of this City Council.

The Mayor has indicated that to promote this candidacy, from the City Council is going to claim RTVE the relay of the procession of Good Friday next year, coinciding with the fact that the XXV Anniversary of one of the most relevant moments is fulfilled international of our processions, as was the broadcast by TVE of the Good Friday parade, directed by Pilar Miró, and which made it possible to publicize a social, cultural and religious event unparalleled worldwide.

We are aware that every year it is not possible, for obvious reasons, to make this kind of proposal, but we want to take advantage of this anniversary so that Spain puts her eyes on Lorca again, and this time not because of a tragic event, but because of our Greater expression as a city.

Fulgencio Gil has anticipated, in this sense, that in the next ordinary plenary session of the City Council a motion will be raised in this regard, to seek the support of all political groups with municipal representation.
