PSOE: "We have managed to get the PP to finally abandon the idea of building his whimsical lift to climb the Castle" (07/07/2018)

Mateos regrets that the improvisation and lack of ideas of this exhausted government team continue to cost the citizens money, since despite finally giving up their whim to build an elevator to climb the Castle, they managed to spend 26,000 public coffers euros for a study related to the project

The spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos celebrates that the government team of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca has resigned "at last" to the crazy idea of building an elevator to climb the Castle.

However, Mateos warns the current Mayor that, for the next, they think about it and value their occurrences better, since this one, despite finally giving it up, has cost the public coffers € 26,000, which is what they came to pay for the realization of a study for the viability of this project.

With this resignation, it becomes clear that the project "was not a social clamor as, deceptively told the Lorca from the Popular Party when they announced this occurrence."

This withdrawal, therefore, gives reason to Lorca socialists who warned from the outset that the elevator to the Castle was an idea "as crazy, as dangerous and unnecessary."

The project that the Popular Party had in mind to execute contemplated the installation of an elevator, whose well of 34 meters deep would be located in a space located between the public parking lot of the Parador de Lorca and the Cerro de la Torre Guillén Pérez Espina, with a gallery or horizontal tunnel of 72.5 m in length, according to the Order of resolution of the contract of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia with the responsible company, derived from the file "26/2016 Services for the realization of geotechnical study for improvement of pedestrian accessibility to Castillo de Lorca ".

It is in this order of resolution where it becomes clear that the Popular Party commissioned an archaeological study to address this project, with an amount of € 26,015.

In the same resolution, it appears reflected the letter from the city of Lorca, dated November 29, 2017, where they request the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia their withdrawal to the aforementioned project, recognizing, therefore, that "this work was not priority as they insisted then ".

There were many calls for sanity and common sense from the PSOE then made for the Popular Party to abandon this project "as unfeasible in the economic as in the technical."

In fact, remembers Mateos, was the PSOE who demanded that the PP to stop caprices and invest those 2.4 million euros, which was what was going to cost the elevator, in projects that are necessary, such as the construction of a lower step with which to alleviate traffic collapse in the accesses to Lorca through the neighborhood of San Antonio.
