Mateos agrees with Gil Jódar on the need to put aside political differences to reach a State Pact with which to shield and give greater water security to the population (09/07/2018)

Diego José Mateos says that it is time to impose common sense and make the different administrations stop doing water policy only to seek votes, as the different governments have been doing during the last decades.

"It is time to make ourselves heard and that, govern who governs, know that every drop of water is synonymous with employment and progress in Lorca and our Region."

The Secretary General of the PSOE in Lorca, Diego José Mateos has agreed with Gil Jódar on the need to put aside political differences once and for all, to achieve a State Pact with which to shield and provide greater water security to the population.

Mateos has insisted that only with the agreement of all the political forces will we be able to provide the stability that our agri-food industry needs, of which thousands of families live in our municipality.

Consensus is the only way to make water policy for citizens.

He assures that it is time for the different administrations to stop doing water policy only to seek votes, as the different governments have been doing during the last decades.

Mateos advocates to impose common sense and do everything possible to include this debate within the framework of the National Water Pact.

Mateos has expressed his conviction that the recent signing of the Regional Water Pact, which includes the defense of the Tajo-Segura transfer, must be the first step to "make ourselves heard" and make clear "govern who governs" from that position we do not move because the future of our economy and the livelihood of a good part of the Lorca homes goes there.

Mateos emphasizes that this is an irrevocable issue and has been convinced that the Government of Spain is also going to bet on this essential National Water Pact. "In fact, Mateos recalls that last Friday, during his first visit to the city of Lorca as Government Delegate, Diego Conesa conveyed, in a meeting in which the Mayor of Lorca was present, that the commitment of this Government is to work towards water sufficiency, expanding the ways to ensure the arrival of water to the Region and respecting the existing ones, among which is the transfer of the Tajo-Segura.

Therefore, Mateos has also made an appeal to the responsibility when doing politics with this topic.

Ensures that it is not time to alarm or generate uncertainty or more concern about the sector, but to join forces to form a voice "unanimous and strong" with which to recover credibility and firmness when claiming the water resources that our land needs .

"What is not worth adding Mateos-is to remember to demand what is fair for this land only when they do not govern those of your party."
