Mateos proposes the creation of a network of approved trails to promote the healthy habits of the population and diversify the tourist offer in Lorca (25/07/2018)

The Spokesman of the PSOE proposes the creation of a work table with the participation of municipal technicians and athletes and clubs or associations involved, directed to the planning and promotion of a network of trails in the municipality, for which also requests the involvement of administrations public and also those private properties where they run

The spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has proposed the creation of a network of nature trails with the aim of promoting healthy habits among the local population and, at the same time, attract this type of tourism "every time more growing "taking advantage of the extensive natural heritage of our municipality.

For this, Mateos has announced that they will request, for the next Plenary, the creation of a working table with the participation of municipal technicians and athletes and clubs or associations involved, aimed at the planning and promotion of a network of trails in the municipality .

Mateos has highlighted the wide social demand that this form of leisure and sport has among the local population and that "it is going to be more".

Therefore, and to encourage this type of tourism, from the PSOE they consider that it is necessary to advance in the signaling, cleaning, cataloging and promotion of the different hiking trails and routes of our municipality.

The path of the Hunter, that of the Ethiopian, Zorro I and II, the Escarambrujo, El Mirador, the Indómita or the path of the Fool, in the mountains of La Torrecilla or La Peñarrubia;

the paths that run along channels and ravines, such as Las Señoritas, Los Peñones, El Ortillo, the 17 arches or the Rambla del Cambrón, or other "well-known but uncataloged" trails, such as the Pilar trail - climb to the Handle, the musketeers, the Colmenar or the monks, in mountains such as La Tercia, without forgetting the paths and paths, some of them already marked in the high districts or near the coast, are some examples that should be included and promoted in that network of trails they propose.

Mateos assures that the homologation of this network of trails, for which "it is necessary the collaboration of the Public Administrations and also of those private properties through which they run, should favor knowledge of the rural and natural environment," prevailing the safety of the hiker and protecting designs that are compatible with the conservation of the natural heritage and respect for the landscape ".

In addition, he assures that in a parallel and careful way "this initiative would propitiate a new offer of leisure that would help the development of the services sector" since "it promotes the tourist activity" through an offer "deseasonalized and innovative".

Mateos believes that our municipality "would not start from scratch" in this sense, it would be enough to continue the work started by the Municipal Institute of Games and Sports or clubs such as La Carrasca, among other groups in the field of hiking, trail or cycling.

A work, remember, also initiated and maintained by athletes like the recently deceased Regino Rodriguez Bermejo.

Mateos said that "those who have today, and have, a love for hiking, in large part thanks to him, know their link to the mountain and their great work at the time of discovering, caring and maintaining endless paths thanks to which, Lorca and visitors can enjoy our natural landscapes while doing this sport and leisure. "

The Socialist Spokesman has announced that the Plenary will take the opportunity to request the support of the City of Lorca to the work that clubs and sports associations are already promoting to grant posthumous recognition to the sports and solidarity work of the athlete from Lorca Regino Rodríguez Bermejo.
