Mateos claims a second bus to accommodate all the students who need transportation in Campillo while the Almenara road is not adapted to pedestrians crossing (06/08/2018)

The PSOE asks that the new regulation of urban transport in Lorca provides solutions to situations and exceptional problems such as the one presented by the educational community of Campillo.

The current regulations of the CARM exclude about 40 families of school transport for the fact of residing less than 3 kilometers from school, regardless of the risk of having to access on foot by a road that does not meet the minimum to ensure safety pedestrian

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has again demanded the Mayor and his team to be "sensitive" to the requests of about 40 families affected by the need to strengthen the school transport line in the hamlet .

The PSOE has taken this issue to the Plenary of the City on several occasions while the PP is still not interested in this problem.

Mateos has once again shown that these families, to access daily to their school, are forced to travel on a highway, the D-10, also known as the Beacon, which does not meet the necessary measures to ensure safety pedestrian, such as roadsides or due signs.

Despite the danger, the current school transport regulations of the Autonomous Community, excludes them from the possibility of using this service due to the fact that they reside less than 3 kilometers from the center.

Mateos has once again insisted that the solution to the current problem is, in the first place, to achieve the improvement of the pedestrian accessibility of the D-10 and D-12 roads, with the aim of achieving a safe itinerary for schoolchildren and neighbors. of Campillo access to the educational center.

A proposal that the PSOE has already raised, in writing and also in the Plenary Session of the City of Lorca on several occasions.

Meanwhile, and waiting for the adaptation of these roads, Mateos has called for the reinforcement of the school transport line with a second bus that accommodates all the students who, even though they live less than 3 kilometers away from the school, need of this medium, especially to avoid being exposed to daily danger.

"If the PP is really sensitive to this problem, it is time to foresee, in preparation for the new model of municipal management of public transport in Lorca, an additional modification needed and that would be justified, as would be the possibility that, exceptionally, a reinforcement of urban transport could be allocated for emergency situations such as the one presented by Campillo.

Mateos recalls that the PSOE also requested in May the inclusion of a modification in the Order of June 3, 2002 that regulates school transportation to provide a solution to this problem.

Specifically, they proposed that, on an exceptional basis, the competent Ministry of Education could be authorized to use said buses by students whose residence address is less than 3 km from the educational center when the conditions of the route such as the lack of pedestrian traffic zones, sufficient parking, dangerousness or other similar circumstances recommend it.
