The Councilor for Public Safety of the City of Lorca, Bethlehem Perez, reported this morning that, within the security prevention operations carried out by different units of the Local Police Corps, the agents of the Proximity and Prevention Unit to the Citizen Security (UPPSC) proceeded to sanction several businesses for the sale of alcoholic beverages outside of the established hours and several people for consuming alcoholic beverages in the public road altering the citizen's tranquility.

Belén Pérez pointed out that "these actions have been developed throughout the urban area of ​​the city during the past weekend in application of the current Municipal Ordinance on Protection of Citizen Coexistence and Prevention of Antisocial Behaviors".

The Councilor for Public Safety has indicated that "this way, an exhaustive control of the sale of alcoholic beverages was carried out outside the schedule established in said ordinance of the shops that have been banned from the time of sale at 10.00 pm, a total of 8 shops, 2 located in the neighborhood of San José, 1 in the Barrio del Carmen, 1 in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal and 3 in the center of the city.

Perez added that "similarly, during the night, parks and leisure areas were controlled to avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages, especially among minors, and to prevent vandalism, which is why 10 complaints were made for the consumption of alcoholic beverages. on public roads".

The Citizen Security Edil has said that "these actions are part of a plan to prevent alcoholic beverages and even narcotic substances from being consumed in public places in our municipality, with the consequent consequences of noise, dirt and, occasionally, alterations. of public order, trying to avoid the problems that the health (physical and mental) of young people entails the consumption of alcohol or drugs. "

Belén Pérez wanted to highlight the importance of "the constant preventive and operative work carried out by the Local Police of Lorca, in coordination with the rest of the State Security Forces and Bodies, throughout the municipality and that allows, through the different units in which it is organized, put in place monitoring devices and controls that allow the discovery of those who commit illicit actions "
