Neighbors will discuss with representatives of European regions and international institutions, and responsible for cultural and intangible assets declared by Unesco and linked to the Region

The city of Lorca will host next autumn an ​​international meeting of citizen dialogue on heritage and culture, which will be framed in the celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage and will be part of the participation of the Region of Murcia in the European campaign 'Reflect on Europe '

The Citizen Dialogue, whose organization focused the meeting held today by the Director General of the European Union, External Action and Cooperation, Manuel Pleguezuelo, and the Councilor for Youth, Celebrations, Culture and Historical Heritage, Agustín Llamas, has the support of the Europe Center Direct Region of Murcia, the Office of the Region in Brussels and the Committee of the Regions, since it is an activity complementary to the celebration in Brussels of the European Week of Regions and Cities.

Pleguezuelo explained that "the purpose of citizen dialogue is to have the participation of neighbors and representatives of other European regions, international institutions, and persons responsible for World Heritage properties, declared by Unesco and linked to the Region of Murcia, as the flamenco, the Mediterranean diet, the Council of Good Men of the Huerta de Murcia or the Levantine rock paintings ".

The event will also serve as "support for the Unesco Heritage nominations that arise from the Region of Murcia for initiatives such as the art of Lorca embroidery, the morning of Good Friday in Murcia, the Salzillos in Murcia, the tamboradas of Levante, among which are those of Mula and Moratalla, or wine in Iberia, "explained the CEO.

Citizen dialogues on Europe are held in the Region since November 2016. On that occasion, the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, the Romanian Corina Cretu, was present and focused on 30 years of European fund investments in the European Union. Region.

In June 2017 another one on energy and climate change was held;

On Europe Day 2017, a meeting on youth and the future of Europe took place at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena;

and in November 2017 was held at the University of Murcia on the 30 years of the Erasmus Program and education and training in the European Union.

The election of Lorca, on this occasion, is linked to the recognition obtained by the city, within the Europa Nostra awards, for the reconstruction of the temples of Lorca after the earthquakes of May 2011.
