The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes in Lorca, Gloria Martín, has once again denounced the collapse of a cornice in the historic center, specifically on Almirante Aguilar street.

The fall of part of a cornice occurred yesterday afternoon, just when a couple had just spent with their minor children, as Martin has related to a local trader, visibly worried.

This road, pedestrian, very busy because it is accessed by the City Council and the courts of Lorca, is also one of the busiest in the Fair and Festivals of Lorca to be held in September.

Therefore, Martin has demanded the immediate review of all buildings to prevent further landslides.

Martín recalled for the umpteenth time to the PP Government team its obligation to require property owners the relevant legal security conditions.

In that sense, he lamented that the lack of a "serious and comprehensive" action by the City Council causes a "vital danger" to pedestrians crossing the old town.

The mayor of IU-Greens has said to feel "helpless" to the continuous warnings of their training on this dangerous situation, which are "systematically ignored" by the municipal government team of the PP, who is "indifferent" to the serious risk that some detachment may result in death or serious injury to a citizen.

Gloria Martín has called "foolhardy" and "reckless" that the City Council is reluctant to demand from the owners of these properties "the legal obligation of their conservation" in order to ensure public safety.

The councilor of IU-V reiterates its demand to apply "a hard-line policy" in cases of dilapidated houses, by imposing fines on owners who fail to comply with their duties "because the lives of people are at stake".

Also, has been in favor of the City Council "explore the path of expropriation" in cases of flagrant breach of legislation, so that buildings "that pose a danger and put at risk the physical integrity of neighbors" become an "asset" for the historic center.
