The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has lamented a new logging, this time nine copies in the Alameda de Cervantes, next to the neighborhood of San Fernando.

Martín recalled that, during the day of presentation of the project of urban regeneration of this road to the neighbors, the PP promised that it would not touch "not a tree".

In fact, in a press release published on July 29, 2016, the municipal government team assured that the whole project "was going to enhance the green areas and the trees of the avenue and its adjacent streets in order to increase comfort of this zone, especially because of its condition of wooded promenade and mall of this axis of the city ".

"It was all a lie," says Martín, because to those nine cuttings there must be added another twenty that were also cut a few days ago in the Alameda Dr. Gimeno Baduell, integrated into this project.

The mayor of IU-Greens has demanded explanations for this new felling and has asked who has authorized "to give the face" and explain to Lorca what justification exists for this destruction of natural heritage in the urban area.

In this regard, the mayor of IU-Greens has announced that he will demand answers at the next Municipal Plenary, including information on which company is buying the bushes that the City is acquiring to replace the felled.

"Now they will tell us that they were sick and that there was no other solution, when the City of Lorca pays 1.4 million euros a year to Acciona, the concessionaire company in charge of maintenance of the trees in the municipality," Martín explained.

Finally the councilor of IU-Greens has asked for the "immediate replacement" of the specimens cut with large trees "because Lorca is running out of shadows and unable to regenerate the polluted air we breathe."

He has also demanded that new "in all those holes left by the chainsaw of the PP" be planted throughout the city and that the municipal government team cease its efforts to turn Lorca into a "secarral".
