IU: "The elimination of French courses of the EOI is forcing the Lorca to enroll in Huércal-Overa" (11/09/2018)

The councilor of this training, Gloria Martin, explained that the Regional Government Education Council has eradicated groups B21, B22 and C1 of this language.

The consequence is that students who have completed their studies at previous levels have been "suspended" and will not be able to continue training at the Lorca headquarters

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has returned to echo the complaints of the students of French of the Official School of Languages in Lorca, some of which will not be able to continue their formative itinerary in the municipality because, finally, the Regional Government Education Department has deleted groups B21, B22 and C1 from this language.

This has as a consequence that the students who have finished the studies in the previous levels, corresponding to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd courses of the Old Plan, will not be able to continue forming in the Lorca headquarters, which is taking them to enroll in the Almerian municipality of Huércal-Overa, with the consequent economic expense in displacements and time.

Martín has described the measure as "absurd" because by eradicating precisely the intermediate courses "students are left hanging".

Therefore, it has demanded that the aforementioned levels be recovered in order to guarantee a "complete" educational offer that does not leave students "in limbo".

Gloria Martín has reproached the Councilor, Adela Martínez-Cacha that the erratic management of her Department has achieved that a municipality of just over 18,000 inhabitants in allusion to the town of Almeria offers a better training offer than Lorca, which also serves the students from Águilas, Totana, Puerto Lumbreras and Alhama.

The mayor of IU-Greens again demanded the incorporation of the Official Language School of the German, Arabic and Chinese teachings at the Lorca headquarters, which is available in Cartagena and Murcia.

Martín insisted on the comparative grievance suffered by the students of Lorca in this regard and recalled that the Official School of Languages is a publicly owned institution that, therefore, must be the guarantor of equal opportunities for all citizens.

The mayor of IU-Greens said that the lack of requests that the Ministry alleges to suppress courses is precisely "the result of the cuts policy suffered by the Official Language School of Lorca" that "is leaving her to die."

"The students do not have any security at the time of enrolling because they do not know what will happen to them in the next course", he explained.

Others, given the impossibility of studying languages other than English, French and Italian, are opting for private academies, which are the great beneficiaries of the poor commitment of the regional government for public education.

For this reason, he asked Martínez-Cachá to "reconsider" and give instructions to provide a more formative, serious, coherent and more resourceful offer to the Official School of Languages of Lorca in order to regain the notoriety it deserves.
