More than 1,500 students will benefit from the workshops launched by the City Council in schools to prevent addictions (25/09/2018)

This is the Parent School "Prevent from Small", the Workshop on Risk Prevention in Adolescents and the Social Skills Workshop for Young People with Absenteeism Problems and / or Risk of School Dropout that are framed within the Argos Program developed by the Ministry of Health

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, presented this morning the activities of Health Education and Prevention of Drug Addiction that this area of ​​municipal management will perform in the municipality with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health .

Fátima Mínguez said that "the initiatives are part of the Argos Program, an action to prevent the consumption of alcohol and other drugs that is developed in the health sector, whose main objective is to implement systematic actions of intervention in drug addiction in Primary Care for populations vulnerable, as they are adolescents, following the guidelines of the National Plan on Drugs ".

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare has detailed that "the first activity to be carried out is the Parent School" Prevention from Pequeños. "It is aimed at mothers and fathers with children of any age, who are interested in trying to avoid The problems caused by the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the use of other drugs (joints, cocaine, etc.) in adolescents and young people will be carried out in person, with 6 hours of training distributed in 3 sessions, to be developed in the institutes and schools of the municipal district of Lorca during the months of October and November ".

Mínguez has indicated that "the contents of the training will be divided into 5 topics that will deal with alcohol in the family, alcohol outside the home, conflicts, teach children to enjoy their free time and the union of the family. educational centers where they will be taught, in collaboration with the FAMPA "Valle del Guadalentín", will be in the IES Prince of Asturias, Ramón Arcas, Bartolomé Pérez Casas, San Juan Bosco, Ibáñez Martín, Ros Giner, High Pedanías (La Paca), Sierra of the Almenara (Purias) and the CEIP San Fernando, José Robles, San José, Alfonso X El Sabio, Pérez de Hita, Torrecilla, Ana Caicedo, House of the Child, Andrés García Soler, Sacred Heart, Juan González, San Cristóbal, Nuestra Lady of the Rosary of Ramonete, San Juan de Morata, CRA Zarcilla de Ramos, Petra Gonzalez de La Paca, Purias, Almendricos, La Campana, La Escucha, Pasico-Campillo, Virgen de las Huertas, Narciso Yepes de Marchena, Juan Navarro and Villaespesa of Tercia ".

Social Skills Workshop for Youth with Absenteeism Problems and / or Risk of Leaving School

Fátima Mínguez said that "this workshop is aimed at a group of 15 students of ESO, aged between 13 and 15 years, selected by the Orientation Teams of the different participating IES of Lorca (Prince of Asturias, Ramón Arcas Meca , Ros Giner, Ibáñez Martín, San Juan Bosco, Bartolomé Pérez Casas and Sierra de la Almenara.) The objectives of this workshop are to reduce school absenteeism in ESO students, as well as those aspects related to health education, prevention of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and addictions to new technologies and video games "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare added that "its start is scheduled for October 9 and will take place in the Local Development Center, as well as in various municipal sports facilities, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon (17 a 19 hours), until the end of December 2018. In addition, a dynamic and playful methodology will be used, which encourages the participation and involvement of the student in the different activities ".
