The PSOE encourages to support the protest march called for next Sunday September 30 in the Béjar ravine, in the hamlet of La Torrecilla (28/09/2018)

The work that the PSOE has done during these six years since the fateful flood of September 28, 2012 has been constant to defend those affected, whom the administration has discriminated and has tried second.

"If it rained as it did on September 28, 2012" the tragedy would be the same or worse "because the Public Administrations" have not done anything during the last years "

Six years since the tragic flood of San Wenceslao, which devastated much of the Guadalentín region, taking the lives of five people and causing innumerable personal and material damages, the Socialist Spokesman at the City Council of Lorca, Diego José Mateos assures that the PSOE "does not forget" for what it is urgent to materialize once and for all the many announcements and promises made by the state and regional administration during all these years.

The work that the PSOE has done during these six years since the fateful flood of September 28, 2012 has been "constant" to defend those affected, to whom "the administration has discriminated and has tried second", according to Mateos.

"If it rained as it did on September 28, 2012" the tragedy would be the same or worse "because the Public Administrations" have not done anything during the last years ".

Faced with the "drought of initiatives" by the Public Administrations led by the Popular Party during these years, the PSOE has led, together with the affected neighborhood groups, the work for the defense and the vindication of the necessary measures to calm the concern of the nearly 6,500 citizens, who live distributed in the more than 5,000 hectares of hamlets like Campillo and Torrecilla, in danger according to flood risk management plans.

Mateos assures that this constant work has served so that the new government of Spain has been sensitive "from the first moment" to the needs of these neighbors.

Just two weeks after his appointment, the new President of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, Mario Urrea, accompanied by the Government Delegate, Diego Conesa visited the Rambla de Biznaga as it passed throughLorca aware of the seriousness of the situation.

During this first visit, the neighbors of the area had the opportunity to transmit their demands to the new President to avoid floods such as those that occurred in 2012. And it was there when Urrea explained that the Government of Spain will speed up the study of a plan integral defense against flooding in the Guadalentín Valley, with the realization of the preliminary projects for the construction of the dams of Nogalte, Béjar and La Torrecilla.

"After six years of neglect and abandonment, the new government has brought closeness, sensitivity and commitment," says Mateos.

However, "we will continue to be vigilant" for the fulfillment of these and other commitments, such as the expansion of the capacity to drain of Biznaga.

Therefore, from the PSOE appeal to support the protest march called for this Sunday, September 30, leaving from the "Copo de Miñarro" in Torrecilla.
