The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, has informed that the registration period for the courses and workshops program offered by the Cultural Resources Center (Universidad Popular) for the first quarter of the year is now open.
Those interested can choose between 78 courses, 9 of them will be free.
These will be developed between October and February, with the number of places offered 1,240.
Agustín Llamas has indicated that "the program that we present today of the Center of Cultural Resources has as a priority objective to facilitate the access of all the people to the formation in all the areas that the culture includes, implying in this way the participation and the cultural development for improve the quality of life of Lorca.The aim of the Department of Culture through the Cultural Resource Center is, among others, to support creativity and cultural dissemination, promote democratization and cultural participation, protection and the promotion of one's own cultural identity, the openness to diversity, the nationalization of resources and the promotion of cultural productions belonging to individuals or groups ".
The Councilor for Culture explained that "the area of ​​foreign language learning is made up of 12 courses, of which English and French should be highlighted as the most demanded, from level A1 to B2, as well as Japanese. Regarding the novelties this year, Italian, German and Classical Arabic are added in. In addition, there are two free English courses for people over the age of 55. In terms of traditional crafts and design, we must highlight the furniture restoration courses, as well as as the empowerment of Lorca embroidery workshops (silk and gold) that extend their continuation for those who started the previous course or have previous knowledge.In the 8 courses also the interior design and Patchwork is maintained due to the interest shown for those people related to the trade.
Llamas added that "9 courses form the area of ​​arts and audiovisuals, being a novelty the continuation of the course of photographic projects of the districts of Lorca, including those that were not the previous one." Another new course is the Introduction to the world of cinema and interpretation, which has a practical nature.The courses of photography and photoshop are kept as usual.It also completes this area with three courses of painting in their different artistic techniques, which will be taught at the Municipal School of Plastic Arts with the purpose of improving the technical conditions, the space and the resources, on the other hand, the IT and TIC'S area, formed by 4 courses, is aimed at users who need to start or consolidate their knowledge at the user level. field of computer science and in it you can find courses of Word, Internet, social networks or the use of mobile applications ".
El Edil de Cultura has indicated that "traditional and modern music is renewed with an introductory course to mix modern music and music therapy for parents with children from 0 to 2. The amount of the initiatives varies depending on the number of hours, there being 50% bonuses for disabled people, pensioners and large families of a special nature.
