Fulgencio Gil demands that the Mixed Commission keep working "until the last one affected by the earthquakes can return home" (04/10/2018)

The Mayor requests that this tool, created in 2011 to process issues related to natural disaster, continue to operate at least until the end of 2019, as it was expected to be dissolved in December this year.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has officially requested that the Mixed Commission remain active for the recovery of our city after the earthquakes, given that, in accordance with the Royal Decree that regulated its creation and activity, this entity It would dissolve next December.

The First Edil has said that Lorca need this active tool, working and meeting the needs of our people, because while a Lorca is affected by earthquakes that have not recovered his home, we will continue to demand from all administrations care for our people .

Fulgencio Gil has affirmed that from Lorca we demand that the final impulse be granted that allows us all to pass page of the consequences of the earthquakes, at least in the administrative and bureaucratic plane.

We are aware of all we have been able to achieve together, and also of the task that lies ahead.

We are not far from completing this process of reconstruction, but there are still families with problems and those problems are mine, which I demand to be resolved without further delay.

The Mayor recalled that we have had to face a complicated process.

There did not exist, nor do I expect there to be similar situations in Spain, that stem from the need to rebuild a city devastated by an earthquake.

Fulgencio Gil has also requested that the new agreement for rental subsidies be signed as soon as possible, that the justification for reconstruction be extended, that the State renounce interest on late payments and that the Mixed Commission remain active. .

With these 3 questions we will be in a position to finish the reconstruction process of Lorca.

The regional government, on the other hand, demanded today the Government of Spain to reactivate the renewal of the collaboration agreement with the Autonomous Community to pay the aid for rent to the residents of Lorca who suffered the effects of the earthquake in their homes.

The text of the new agreement "was closed with the previous central executive and is only pending that the Government of Pedro Sanchez approve it in the Council of Ministers for its signature," said the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, who indicated that " as long as the Government of Spain does not unblock the agreement, the families will not be able to receive the aid ".

Valverde made these statements at the meeting of the Mixed Commission, composed of the Autonomous Community, the Delegation of the Government in the Region of Murcia and the City of Lorca.

Counselor Valverde criticized the "unjustified blockade" of the Ministry of the Interior and noted that "families still need all the support of the administrations because there are still buildings under construction and others that will be demolished, so the owners still need these aids" .

A total of 1,557 families have benefited from housing subsidies granted by the Mixed Commission, with a total amount of more than 16 million euros, co-financed at 50 percent by the Autonomous Community and the State.

The majority of aid, some 9.6 million, was allocated to address the emergency of families and the rest, almost 6.4 million, correspond to the extensions of these subsidies.

Also, the counselor asked the central government to extend the deadline for the victims to carry out the reconstruction of their homes until September 30, 2019. For this, it is necessary for the Ministry to promote an amendment to Royal Decree-law 6 / 2011, of May 13, which currently fixes in 24 months the maximum period for the reconstruction or rehabilitation of housing.

Valverde claimed an "urgent response" from the Government of Spain, and recalled that "the duty of the administration is to help those affected by providing all the facilities to families and no more obstacles so that they can rebuild their homes and return to their homes."

In the course of the meeting, the regional responsible reiterated the request that the State concede to the families of Lorca the interests of delay that have been produced by the request for reimbursement of the granted aid.

The counselor asked that the State "take an example" of the regional government, which already applies this measure that was included in the General Budget of the Autonomous Community for this year 2018, which "demonstrates its absolute commitment."

Paid 86.4 percent of aid

The counselor highlighted the "great effort" made by the regional government for the processing and resolution of more 16,000 records of different types of aid (rent, repair of housing and buildings, housing reconstruction and replacement of equipment), which are resolved practically 99 percent of the total.

80.3 million have been granted in aid to those affected by the earthquakes and so far 86.4 percent of families have received the subsidy.
