The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, has taken stock of the services provided by the two youth information centers of the municipality, Informajoven, for the work of information, support, advice and processing of scholarships that the Ministry of Education , Culture and Sport awards for both non-university and university post-compulsory education levels.

The mayor recalled that "from the Department of Youth we assume this work of advice and collaboration to help families lorquinas to know and apply for those scholarships available to them, since the Ministry of Education implemented the electronic way as a process common for the presentation of the scholarships more than a decade ago, since the Informajoven thousands of them have been processed, attending to a detected need and that from no other area of ​​the administration had been assumed.This way we collaborate with the own educative centers that during the scholarship application period, from August to October, they are immersed in the enrollment process, so they can not dedicate themselves exclusively to the application for scholarships ".

This advisory work is provided both for students who take vocational and baccalaureate training and for other studies in official centers such as artistic education, plastic arts, language studies, basic vocational training or access tests, among others.

As for the scholarships for university studies, they are intended for people facing university degrees but also others such as official master's degrees.

Llamas has announced that "with regard to the data collected to date, it should be noted that 498 applications for scholarships have been submitted, of which close to 60% have been for FP and baccalaureate scholarships, while 30% have As an anecdote, it has been noted that residents have been served in nearby municipal districts such as Totana, Águilas, Puerto Lumbreras and Mazarrón ".

During this course, the application for scholarships for students with specific educational support needs has been attended for the second year, in collaboration with the high schools of the municipality;

this group includes aids for both students with needs arising from a disability or serious behavioral disorder and those with high abilities;

for this type of aid, the Informajoven collaborates generating the standard application document that later, and within the deadlines, the educational centers go to the scholarship unit of the Ministry of Education of the Region of Murcia.

The councilor recalled that "it is a necessary service to not leave any Lorca family that meets the economic requirements and their children comply with the academic aspects without requesting their scholarship, enabling equal opportunities for them. October 15, the last day to apply for the scholarships whether you have a place assigned to the university or not, we will maintain this service, dedicating to it the municipal workers of the Informajoven, both those located in the Local Development Center and those of the University Campus of Lorca, so we encourage students and families who need this service to come to them and take advantage of it. "
