October 12 is not understood in Lorca without hundreds of bicycles crossing the streets and celebrating the sport.

And it is that the tradition marks that on such day the Sports Games of the Guadalentín are closed.

Today, the bikes have gone back to the streets for Lorca to say that it is a sport city, that it enjoys physical activity and that its Games are the sports flag of this city.

And he has officially closed an edition for the memory, the fortieth, which began in June with its cultural program, which has had an exhibition, cinema, commemorative magazine and more than 60 sports activities that have put sports to almost 10,000 people when there are still 4 activities to be celebrated.

Shortly after 10 o'clock, the cyclists began arriving at the Felipe VI Sports Complex, a meeting place, and the first disguises could be glimpsed.

The youngest had the opportunity to entertain the time with the activities proposed by the monitors of the sociocultural animation course of the Municipal Youth Employment Project, while the disguised ones presented themselves before the jury that would fail the prizes.

After 11 o'clock, more than 1,500 cyclists left to go around the streets of the city of Lorca to celebrate the sport and close the Sports Games of the Guadalentín in its 40th edition.

Avenida Europa, Armed Forces, the historic Puente del Barrio, Lope Gisbert, Jerónimo Santa Fe, President Adolfo Suárez, Carretera de Granada, Ronda Sur, Mayor José López Fuentes and Mayor José Antonio Gallego, Bacons Bridge and the rambla hosted the pedals of the participants until returning to the Felipe VI Sports Complex, the Tempo del Deporte, to proceed to the official closure.

But it was a different closure because of the anniversary that was celebrated.

If at the opening the local clubs carried the torch of the Olympic Movement during the entire Walk, from the Committee of the Games and the Department of Sports wanted to recognize again at the closing all clubs involved in this historic edition;

thus representatives of 32 local clubs took the stage to receive a distinction and the choral and unanimous applause of the participants.

You could not miss the raffle of gifts, also special because a lucky few could take home bonuses for family dinners, sports equipment, 4 bicycles and 4 hams and also two weekend trips to Granda and Valencia with tickets to the Alhambra and the Oceanografic, respectively, closing a complete sports morning.

And the prizes to the best disguises: best set disguise-bike for the small Ainara dressed as a doctor;

Pedestrian vehicle more curious for Pedro and his giant bike;

and best group disguised for The Invincible Unicorns.

The winners received their awards from the Councilor for Sports, Juan Miguel Bayonas, and the champion of Spain shot put, Ursula Ruiz.

But even if the official closure has been carried out, we have already said that it is a special edition.

So many tests make up this year's program that it has been necessary to also use the weekend to celebrate different activities that will take place during Saturday and Sunday: badminton, taekwondo, fencing and rhythmic and aesthetic gymnastics.

Only then will the blind to this ambitious program be cast.

But even if the Games are over, the sport does not end.

We will continue to enjoy physical activity in fields, pavilions, sports complexes, gyms, trails, tracks, roads and in each place where a Lorca decides to benefit from all its virtues.

And if someone has been hooked on the sport thanks to the Games, if curiosity has stung him, if he has known a new modality or if he has realized that he feels better after moving a while, with that we are satisfied .
