The mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the president of the Spanish Bonsai Association, Juan Gómez, and the president of the Association of Friends of Bonsai of Lorca, Tomás López, have presented the XXVI National Bonsai Congress to be held between 19 and October 21 at the Lorca Fair and Congress Center, organized by the Spanish Bonsai Association and the local Association.
Gil stressed that "on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between Spain and Japan and within the official program of the Japanese Embassy in our country to commemorate this event, Lorca will host this ambitious Congress that will bring together the greatest national experts and even a total of 65 magnificent and valuable bonsai samples, this is a new sample that will take advantage of the many possibilities and excellent conditions of the Fair and Congress Center to host a historic meeting. "
The program will begin on Friday the 19th with the reception of bonsai and the installation of the market.
At 5:00 pm the doors will be opened, a raku workshop by José Antonio Guerao being held half an hour later.
On Saturday the doors will open at 9.30 for an hour later, at 10.30 am, enjoy a simultaneous demonstration by the famous teachers David Benavente, Erasmo Garcia, Nacho Salar, Andrés Bicocca, Miguel Ángel González and Germán Gómez.
At 12 noon will be the official opening of the Exhibition and the vinyls commemorating the 150th anniversary of the diplomatic relations of Spain and Japan and the history of bonsai;
during the same the national anthems of Spain and Japan will be interpreted by the Musical Group of Paso Blanco.
In the afternoon, starting at 5.30pm, the simultaneous demonstration of teachers will continue and the new talent contest will take place, from which the Spanish representative will leave for the 2019 European Congress, to subsequently fail the awards.
On Saturday night there will be a gala dinner during which the prizes will be handed out.
For the day of Sunday is scheduled, at 10.30 am, an ikebana workshop by Miguel Angel Gonzalez, professor of Japanese floral art by the Sogetsu school in Tokyo.
At 11 o'clock Germán Gómez Soler will give a presentation with a talk about the olive tree.
At 14:00 the exhibition will close, while in the afternoon the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Spanish Bonsai Association will be held in our city.
Admission to the exhibition will be free every day.

Lorca is a fairground city that aspires more than ever to consolidate its role as organizer of the best national exhibitions, for the number of exhibits, for the quality of the talks and workshops, and for the prestige of the visitors, this is what we want to encourage all Lorca and visitors to enjoy. This Congress is open to the participation of experts and initiates, but also of those people who are curious to know more about the ancestral art of bonsai. "
