The Councilor for Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has taken stock of the activities developed during the day of Wednesday to celebrate the Day of the Library.

This celebration was constituted in 1997 at the request of the Spanish Association of Friends of the Children and Youth Book, supported by the Ministry of Culture, in memory of the destruction of the Sarajevo Library in 1992.

The municipal libraries also joined the national campaign "Pillado en la Biblio" of the Observatory of Reading and the Book, dependent on the Ministry of Culture, on twitter and instagram.

The initiative invites the users of these social networks to let themselves "plunder", literally, in the libraries and tell us what they have found in them, sending photographs that confirm what attracts us to these library services.

In addition to this initiative of national character, in different libraries of districts, particular activities were developed to promote the habit of reading and promote library services.
