Stresses that a year is extended to present the report describing the work done and paid for the repair of their homes

The regional government has suspended all embargoes processed for the reimbursement of aid received by the residents of Lorca for the repair of their homes after the earthquakes of 2011, thanks to the application of the new law approved last July, such as promised last Tuesday the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, with neighbors.

The counselor went to Lorca today to send the residents of the suspension order and the list of files that have been paralyzed as "overwhelming proof of the absolute commitment of the regional government to the neighbors," and said that it is "a solution as necessary as extraordinary to respond to the urgent situation lived by the residents of Lorca.

Valverde stressed that "we are in a very exceptional administrative situation generated by an unprecedented catastrophe in Spain, which we have faced with the development of new regulations and the application of measures and extraordinary aid to solve the problems of Lorca."

In this sense, the counselor highlighted the Law of aid of Lorca, promoted by the regional government and approved unanimously in the Regional Assembly, which "reduces to the minimum all the procedures for justification of public aid and extends one year the deadline for submission of the justifying memory of the works ".

Once the files are suspended, a new opportunity is opened to present the report that describes the works carried out and paid for the repair of the houses, which will be extended until next July.

The neighbors will be able to go to the Office of the Earthquake to receive information or advice on how to complete the memory of justification of the aid.

Councilor Patricio Valverde said that "the regional government and the City Council will continue to offer all the necessary help to the neighbors to put an end to this situation."

Benefits of the new Law

The owner of Development highlighted the "effectiveness" of the new law that "has allowed us to resolve all cases that can meet the standard and benefit many Lorca families."

The rule exempts those cases in which the beneficiaries themselves have waived the aid, have not performed the work or when the subsidy received is greater than the approved one, to which is added the collection by the Government of Spain of the interests of delay for the return of the aid.

Valverde again demanded that the State "condone these interests, as the regional government has already done, and no longer harm the families affected by the earthquakes."
