IU-Green claims again involvement of schedules in the libraries lorquinas (26/10/2018)

Adoración Peñas, councilor of the municipal group of IU-Greens has once again highlighted the deficiencies and existing needs in relation to the study rooms and libraries in our municipality.

It is not the first time, says the mayor, that this municipal group denounces the shortcomings that Lorca students have in terms of public spaces and schedules to perform their work as students.

On several occasions this issue has been fully addressed by IU-Greens without finding any receptivity on the part of the government team, even if several agreements have been approved.

Peñas stresses that, despite the existence of a network of libraries that provides partial coverage in some districts, they have cut their hours of service to the public in recent years.

In addition, the offer of spaces and schedules in the urban center, where there is a greater concentration of population, is clearly insufficient.

From IU-Green echo the complaints and demands of students to make this request and require the mayor to extend the hours of libraries and study rooms on weekends and holidays, as well as an uninterrupted schedule of 24 hours during the exam period in high school and in the university stage.

Remember that in some of the proposals made by this political formation was, in addition to the extension of schedules, the construction of a new room in the area of San José / La Viña, even associated with a green park that served as the lung of the city, but the government team has never considered it a priority.

Peñas says that the students of Lorca are mobilizing, they have even carried out surveys which show that 91% of them believe that the library infrastructures do not adapt to the needs of students, so, according to the edil, policy makers should take action in this matter.

"It is not acceptable that a municipality of more than 90,000 inhabitants does not have a structure adequate to the needs of the population" said Peñas in relation to this issue and has assured that we must take an example of cities that lead us as Murcia, instead of anchoring us in ostracism, without alleviating the errors that are evident, even more so if we want Lorca to be really a university city.
