The Councilors of Local Development and Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez and Agustín Llamas, respectively, attended this morning at the Palacio de Guevara at the beginning of the assembly of the historical pharmacy in Lorca, Sala Just, which is being carried out by the students of the Specialization course in the field of restoration of wooden elements developed by the Lorca Consistory.

Sandra Martinez explained that "after the disassembly of the same in 2011 after the earthquakes, we proceeded to keep the sizes, doors, columns, stained glass and furniture exempt original, discarding the internal structure in poor condition by moisture and xylophages. In order to recover the original state of this pharmacy and relocate it with historical rigor in the basement of the Guevara Palace, the new structural elements have been planned with the premise of facilitating a future orderly dismantling. of all the wooden elements in the Carpentry Workshop that the Local Development Council has in the Business Initiatives Center of La Torrecilla ".

The Local Development Council has added that "for these actions has had the team of the Carpentry Workshop and the students of the specialization workshop in the field of the restoration of wooden elements and the workshop of auxiliary operations of assembly and electrotechnical installations and telecommunication in buildings, which is being developed by the Local Development Council .The actions that are being carried out are:

Construction of a load-bearing structure in wood, with the original total dimensions of the pharmacy.

Manufacture of the internal structure of the attached furniture.

Reconstruction of moldings and missing structural elements.

Adjustment of carpentry elements such as doors, stained glass, sconces, columns and molded pieces.

Recomposition and restoration of damaged wooden elements.

Cleaning, consolidation and restoration of all original parts.

Assembly and initial adjustment of all the elements in the Carpentry Workshop of the Local Development Department of the City of Lorca de la Torrecilla.

Treatment to anti-xylophages of the whole.

Dismantling ordered and documented of all the wooden elements of the pharmacy.

Installation of the supporting frame, structure of the furniture and ornamental elements in the Guevara Palace.

Treatment of chromatic recovery, following the criteria of restoration of historical heritage, seeking a homogeneous reading of the whole but differentiated the original elements of the new ones.

Installation of marble shelves, glass and lighting.

Agustín Llamas pointed out that "built at the end of the 19th century by the Lorca carver Juan Campos Sáez, it is a pharmacy office made of pine and oak wood, richly decorated with carvings and ornamentation in neo-Gothic style. Just was at number 2 on Alamo Street, and in 1994 the Sala family donated the furniture and equipment of this historical pharmacy to the Lorca City Council, which was then cataloged and the structure disassembled. installed in the basement of the Guevara Palace during the following year ".

The Councilor for Culture has indicated that "after the earthquakes of May 11, 2011, the Palacio Guevara building was significantly damaged, as well as the ornamental and furniture elements of the Sala Pharmacy were affected, which forced dismantling to address the relevant works in the building, works executed by the Historical Heritage Service of the Region of Murcia ".

Sandra Martínez, finally, explained that "the objective of the creation of this course developed by the City Council is the improvement of the professional qualification of the students to facilitate their labor insertion, as well as to continue the collaboration, through the practices in the auxiliary work of restoration of the city's heritage, in this sense, the 7 participating students receive a scholarship of 800 euros per month.The duration of the course is 11 months, totaling the total budget to the amount of 93,667.42 euros, where it includes the payment of scholarships and the salary of the monitor Antonio García Rico ".
