Mateos demands the upgrading of the Los Arcos rambla and the renovation of the sanitation system taking advantage of the Caravaca road remodeling (31/10/2018)

Diego José Mateos: "If City Hall and CARM are limited only to remodel the Caravaca road, without conditioning the urban channel of the ravine, we will be talking about a project that is lame and that will be wasting a historic opportunity to solve the serious problem of unhealthiness that neighbors suffer daily. "

In addition, Mateos has once again demanded that the inclusion of a safe passage for pedestrians from the Deficit crossing to the Incarnado Pass ships, along the Pantano highway (RM-C15) be included in the works project.

A proposal on which the PSOE has insisted during the last years, and that already promised the previous Mayor, Francisco Jódar.

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has demanded Gil Jódar to attend to the neighbors and include in the remodeling project of the Caravaca road the necessary work for the conditioning and channeling of the ravine of Los Arcos, on its way through this area, and the renovation of the sanitation system to end the unhealthy environment that is breathed in the area.

Mateos assures that if the Mayor, ignoring the neighbors, remains idle and does nothing to include these works in the next project of urban road regeneration of Caravaca, "once again, you will be missing a historic opportunity to solve to a problem as serious as the one that affects these neighbors in this area of the city. "

The road neighbors of Caravaca coexist in a "completely abandoned" environment that, by the time they were eight, "still endure the structural and functional damage caused by the Lorca earthquake".

The most significant, he points out, is the deterioration of the sanitary sewer and the sewage system that causes a "stench" in the homes every day of an "unbearable smell" due to the leaks of the damages that these infrastructures present.

In turn, Mateos has highlighted the neighborhood concern due to the accumulation of scrub, garbage and also by the proliferation of insects and rodents, in the bed of the ravine of Los Arcos as it passes through the area, as well as by the own urban deterioration that presents the infrastructures themselves.

For years, neighbors have lived with the fear that, in case of torrential rains, there will be an overflow of the riverbed and water will flood their homes, as has already happened on some occasions.

Mateos assures that it is "inconceivable" that these issues have not been taken into account when planning the remodeling of the Caravaca highway.

The same happens with the authorization of a "safe passage" along the RM-C15, or road of the Pantano, from what is known as "crossing deficit" to the ships of the Incarnate Pass.

A proposal that has influenced the PSOE in recent years and, on the other hand, already promised the former Mayor Francisco Jódar.

However, neither did he, nor his successor has been able even to contemplate it in the current project of remodeling the area.

As a proposal to include, at least, the necessary channeling of the urban section of the Los Arcos ravine, Mateos has raised the possibility of allocating the reduction resulting from the award of this project, still pending, in this regard.

Mateos says that it is urgent, first of all, the cleaning of the channel and of course, its conditioning, and for this, speaks of a three-way collaboration: City of Lorca, Autonomous Community and Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura.

"The moment is now", says Diego José Mateos.

"Open the road to Caravaca and not contemplate these jobs is to throw away the possibility of taking advantage now to do the jobs that are necessary with which to clean up the environment, of course, but also solve the problems that affect the daily life of these neighbors.

Mateos has reiterated that urgently, the City of Lorca proceed to clean and clean the Rambla de Los Arcos as it passes through the urban land of Lorca, from its junction with the Carretera de Caravaca to its mouth in the Guadalentín River.

Of course, the spokesman of the PSOE has demanded that in view of the approval of the project and the award of the works, the Mayor meets with the residents of the affected area to consult and agree on the work projects to be carried out.
