The data confirm the good reception of an initiative launched by the Municipal Administration a few years ago, and that in 2018 ratifies with concrete data its positive character for all citizens.
The Councilor for Youth in the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, reported that the Municipal Bank Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training has collected this year a total of 7,918 textbooks of the 2017/18 course, who have covered in a percentage of 86% the integral needs of books for the 2018/19 academic year.
We must indicate that the process of collection and delivery of books has been carried out between July 1 to July 31 and during the months of September and October of this year.
Llamas Gomez has stressed that it is estimated that with this initiative has been able to save many families in Lorca more than € 110,000 in the cost of acquiring books of 3,086 families using the Book Exchange Bank.
In addition, about 30 batches of books have been provided free of charge to schools that so requested, for families that did not have the possibility of buying them.
The mayor of Youth has said that with this initiative we intend to multiply the use of textbooks exponentially, thereby reducing consumer spending, significantly increasing family savings, this is the basis of the Bank of exchange of books of text, which we try to disseminate to as many families as possible.
The start-up of the Textbook Exchange Bank is intended to help families with school-age children who, today, find it increasingly difficult to cope with the purchase of textbooks.

The objective is to be able to reuse them and favor the saving in the school expenses of the families of Lorca.
From the City Council seeks the socialization of textbooks in an environment in which all members of the educational community are involved from the centers belonging to the municipality, teachers, parents and students, as a fundamental and basic idea: take advantage and reuse the books that are in good condition at the end of the course.
We have tried to unify the expenses that must be assumed at the beginning of each course with the purchase of textbooks, to achieve a minimum expense.
In fact, the book exchange project was born in response to the high cost of textbooks at the beginning of the course, which increases the costs of the current educational action and includes the use of specific school material whose cost is fully assumed by the students.
We must not forget that the families that have purchased the books for the new 2018/2019 academic year, through the Bank of Books, have experienced an average expenditure of approximately 130 euros per child.
