The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, along with the President of the San Clemente Federation, Luis Antonio Torres del Alcázar, presented this morning the Popular Race 'XLI Cross Patron of Lorca - XXXIII Ascent to the Castle, "which will have place this coming Saturday, November 17th.
The mayor of Sports recalled that "it is one of the oldest tests in the Region of Murcia, since it has been done for 41 years to commemorate the feast of the Patron of the city of Lorca, San Clemente. the first editions were made an urban race, by the malls or in areas of land, since the eighth edition was replaced by the climb to the Castle that has been so entrenched in the local sports calendar.
Bayonas has detailed that "the test, which will have a distance of 4,500 meters and is part of the 18th Local Circuit of Popular Races, will depart at 5:00 pm from the Plaza de España, with a goal at the Castle of Lorca. , 5 kilometers, about 3 kms are flat and 1.5 kms of very steep climb, although it is not a very long test, it is very demanding due to the positive slope of the last section ".
The route of the test is very attractive as it runs through the old town, from the Plaza de España, where the exit takes place, and through Calle Selgas, Fernando el Santo, Alfonso X el Sabio, Nogalte, Pérez Casas, Jerónimo Santa Fe, Juan Carlos I, Musso Valiente, Álamo, Plaza de España, Ctra. Santa María and Ctra. De los Pilones until the finish line at the Castle.
In the exit area (Plaza de España) the test secretariat will be installed where information will be provided during and after the event.
The participating categories are cadet (years 2004 and 2005), juvenile (2001 and 2002), junior (2000 and 2001), promises (years 97.98 and 99), senior (year 1982, without 35 years of age up to and including 95) , veterans A (35 to 39 years old), veterans B (40 to 44 years old), veterans C (45 to 49 years old), veterans D (50 to 54 years old), veterans E (55 years old) 59 years old), veterans F (60 to 64 years old) and G veterans (65 years and older).
As for the prizes, there will be trophies for the first three classified in each category, as well as a special trophy for the winner and winner of the overall general classification.

The race, organized by the Department of Sports, has the support of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the CARM, San Clemente Federation, Emergency Department, Local Police of Lorca and Red Cross.
