The Community supports business projects in Lorca by 4.4 million to maintain 1,477 jobs (15/11/2018)

A total of 73 companies in Lorca have received support from the regional government to develop investment projects in Lorca, which has allowed to maintain 1,477 jobs and generate 76 new jobs The Institute of Development has granted from 2015 to the present 4.4 million of euros to companies for investments totaling 23.2 million.

These figures were released today by the director of the Institute of Development (Info), Joaquín Gómez, at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Society of Promotion and Equipment of Lorca (Saprelorca).

He stated that "the business transformation of the city towards the industrial sector is being exemplary, with a high degree of innovation, which coincides with the objectives set out in the Agenda for the industrial and technological boost of the Murcia Region 2021".

The regional government "has marked as a priority in the short and medium term a rebirth of the industry and have established strategies to increase the weight in the regional economy, as is already happening in Lorca," said Gomez.

Of the total of 73 files financed by the Info, the predominant activities are in the industrial sector, with 32 cases, which have obtained a subsidy of 4 million euros, generating an investment of 22.2 million, allowing to maintain 736 jobs and generate 30 new jobs.

The other 41 files correspond to activities related to the services sector and have had a subsidy of 450,000 euros, which has generated an investment of one million euros and allowing to maintain 741 jobs and generate 46 new jobs.

In addition, the regional government has promoted the participation of regional companies in other financing lines, such as the Reindustrialization and Promotion of Industrial Competitiveness program, under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, where 10 companies have obtained financing of 15 , 5 million euros for investments of 20.7 million;

as well as financing through the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), which has approved financing of 6.4 million for 13 business projects with an investment of 8.2 million euros.

The director of the Info indicated that "the mediation and advice that we made has allowed our companies to access the state financing".

Industrial impulse to Lorca

The municipality of Lorca has three industrial estates: La Hoya, Saprelorca Industrial Estate and Regional Automotive Center.

In the rest of the Guadalentín Valley, six more industrial estates are located in the municipalities of Librilla (2), Totana, Alhama de Murcia, Puerto Lumbreras and Águilas.

The degree of occupation of the Saprelorca Industrial Estate is over 80 percent, with 230 companies installed, which employ about 2,600 people.

In addition, last year this business park began a promotional campaign to reindustrialize the land of the region, with discounts of up to 40 percent in the price of industrial land.

In 2017, the start-up of 11 new companies in the Saprelorca industrial estate culminated, which generated 136 new jobs.
