Lorca welcomes today and tomorrow the XIV technical days of sanitation and purification 'Regeneration of waters: Generating trust', organized through the Entity of Sanitation and Purification (Esamur), which will turn the city into an international forum for water purification and reuse.

The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Ángel del Amor, highlighted at the opening of the conference the importance of water reuse in the Region of Murcia and how they will address the next regulation of reuse of this resource " as well as the challenge of guaranteeing quality assurance and the necessary controls on agricultural products. "

This event will have the participation of experts from different countries and will welcome more than 300 attendees from all over Spain.

"This international water reuse forum has been well received by professionals in this field and will have the rapporteur in the European Parliament on water Francesc Gambús and the head of the Research Center of the European Commission on water, Bernd Manfred, "said the counselor.

Also, attendees can check the quality of the products that are watered with purified water by the hand of cook Julio Velandrino, who will perform a 'showcooking' using products that have been grown with reused water.

The Region of Murcia is at the forefront in the practice of water reuse, with 98 percent of the purified water, and supplies 105 cubic hectometres to more than 20,000 irrigators.

"The Community is committed to giving a second life to its waters and leading the use of it," said Del Amor. In the rest of Spain 15 percent is reused and in Europe the ratio is nine percent.

In addition, "the Community has devoted a considerable effort to comply with the General Sanitation and Treatment Plan and to complete its infrastructure construction objectives and ensure through its proper operation and maintenance," he concluded.
