The Mayor considers a decision "imprudent and harmful" the decision of the current government of Spain not to send a single drop of water to farmers in our municipality (21/11/2018)

Fulgencio Gil: "Here we live from this, it hurts me that they are playing with the future of my people, it is a nonsense that harms thousands of families in Lorca, we feel deeply misunderstood and disappointed".

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has demanded that the Government of Spain "reflect deeply and seriously" after announcing his decision not to send a single drop of water to alleviate the drought that are suffering the thousands of farmers in the region of Lorca for months.

I believe that it is a reckless and harmful measure, which harms the Lorca families in a very special way.

Here we live from this and it hurts me that they are playing with the future of my people.

It is a nonsense that is being used in this way to the agri-food sector.

We feel deeply misunderstood and disappointed by the decision of the current government of Spain.

The First Edil has called, on behalf of all Lorca, to focus on what is important.

We are talking about putting at risk the main socio-economic engine of our region, of attacking those who fill our pantries with the best products of the countryside, those same who also avoid with their sweat and daily sacrifice the advance of the desertification of our land.

It is not fair to be condemned in this way.

The Mayor has stressed that the announcement made by the current government of Spain is also very negative and has to think.

It seems that they have taken advantage of the fact that it has rained to run to the media announcing that they turn off the tap, when the truth is that in this Region it has been raining practically only to do damage over the last few days, without any contributions being recorded. extraordinary that constitute a real relief for the situation of the reserves of our reservoirs.

Fulgencio Gil has stated that this government can not mistreat farmers and irrigators in this way.

They have shown that they are very far from Lorca, and not only physically.

This land, although they have even dared to deny it from the government of Spain, suffers a structural deficit, we do not have water and we are doing miracles to take advantage of every last drop from which we obtain.

I do not resign myself to the fact that the history of Lorca is eternally that of the struggle for water, and I claim, as I have always done, that this country reflects and undertakes the drafting of the National Water Pact that we are demanding.

That is the solution;

let water come from where it is left where it is needed.

For now, and with punishments like the one that the government of Pedro Sánchez has just sent us, we are going very badly.
