Moratalla hosted the closing ceremony of the conferences organized by IU-Greens and the Parliamentary Group of the European Left, GUE, on "depopulation and social change: for a new rural environment", last Saturday, after developing since last month. Among the initiatives that have been launched are the rehabilitation of housing and composting door to door, two initiatives that create employment and address a change in the model of our rural environment.

Dori Peñas, councilor of IU Lorca and candidate for the Regional Assembly was in charge of exposing a series of measures that are being worked in the Congress of Deputies with Unidos Podemos, which as the mayor stressed "this phenomenon affects a large part of our municipalities and towns and therefore must be addressed from a comprehensive perspective from a national strategy that puts in the center the needs of the people who inhabit these peoples.

Finally, the Regional Coordinator of the training and candidate for the Regional Assembly, José Luis Álvarez Castellanos, intervened to highlight the role of citizen participation as a fundamental element when it comes to solving the problems of the districts that suffer depopulation, in this sense from IU-Green defends the direct election of the Neighborhood Boards.

He also stressed that "the Popular Party should give political priority in the budgets of 2019 to the demands of these districts and that the fight against rural depopulation and the change of model of the rural environment should be contemplated in the accounts of the autonomous community" .
