Pedro Sosa, a spokesman for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, denounced this morning the stoppage of the rehabilitation works of the Church of Santa Maria without having given the appropriate explanations of the reason that has motivated the groups of the opposition and the neighbors of the area.

Sosa sees at the same time incomprehensible that in the money budgeted for its rehabilitation, there was not a departure for the settlement of the houses near the church, which have become foci of garbage and neglect while they continue to fall apart.

In relation to the 16th century balustrade that was on top of the Church, whose remains that remained have been eliminated and completely replaced, the mayor of the left has asked about the report of the technicians who advised against its restoration, which wields the councilor of Culture of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, so that it was not carried out, and that his municipal group requested in the Plenary of July without they have still been remitted.

Finally, Sosa suspects that there is no such report and that these remains have ended up in the private garden of some acquaintance of the PP, and not in a "specialized dump," as Mr. Llamas said when asked about the whereabouts of what It remained of the balustrade.
