The Councilor for Tourism added that "next part of the castle is covered by the hand of a Jewish character who will tell visitors more details about the party, among them, you can learn how the children who lived in the Jewish quarter celebrated. of Lorca during the Middle Ages, proposing games like the dreidel or the spinning top to win chocolate coins, then visiting the Alfonsina Tower, completing the tour through a unique space such as the Lorca citadel. 18 hours the Federation San Clemente will proceed to the act of lighting the Hannukiah in the Synagogue of the Castle of Lorca.

Montiel has indicated that "the cafeteria Las Caballeriza del Castillo Lorca also joins this Jewish festival and will offer Sephardic-inspired tapas such as" Tempura de Aubergines "or" Tempura de Alcachofas con miel ", a good touch to complete this plan in the courtyard of the Castle overlooking the Guadalentín Valley ".

The Hanukkah festival, celebrated by the Jewish culture, recalls the miracle by which a minimum amount of oil to light the Menorah of the Temple burned for 8 days in a row, the time needed to produce a new supply of oil.

Since then, in the Jewish culture this festival is celebrated for eight days, each night a candle is lit, taking the oil from the main candle or "shamash", until the eighth candle.

Recall that, in 2003, inside the Castle of Lorca, were the archaeological remains of the medieval Jewish quarter of Lorca and its synagogue of the fifteenth century.

This important discovery gave rise to the exhibition "Lorca, Lights of Sepharad" where the results of the archaeological excavation and the pieces found in the late medieval Jewish quarter and recently to the traveling exhibition "Footprints of the Jewish culture in Lorca" were shown. the findings related to the heritage around the Jewish quarter of the castle of Lorca and the synagogue.

From this date, the city of Lorca is closely linked to the Jewish culture;

For this reason, throughout the year, different activities are programmed to disseminate their heritage.

This is a work aimed at promoting the inclusion project of Lorca as a member of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters.
