PSOE: The Government of Spain unlocks aid for those affected by the floods of 2016 in the region and allocates to Lorca about 45,000 euros (02/12/2018)

Mateos: "How different it would have been for Lorca if we could have had a Government Delegate like Diego Conesa, sensitive to the damage our land suffered as a result of the floods in 2012. With Rajoy and the Partido Popular, the only thing they received those affected by the San Wenceslao flood was the greatest disdain and helplessness on the part of the Administrations and their leaders "

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos accompanied this past Friday technicians of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation in his visit, along with representatives of neighbors and affected by the floods of San Wenceslao, to areas of districts such as Campillo, that were flooded as a result of the floods of 2012 and that, six years later, continue to suffer the consequences of greater neglect and abandonment of the different administrations.

"It has been in the wake of the political change in the central government, and therefore, the holders of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation when they are beginning to carry out the first studies necessary for the preparation of projects still pending, as is the necessary plan integral defense against floods in the Guadalentín Valley, with the completion of the preliminary projects for the construction of the dams of Nogalte, Béjar and La Torrecilla, "commented Mateos.

The spokesman of the PSOE showed his outrage as, during this recent visit, it became clear that the new managers of the body of the basin "have had to start from scratch."

"While the leaders of the Popular Party have spent all these years leading the neighbors, assuring them every time they met with them that they were working to solve this concern, now it turns out that nothing has been done.

Not a single paper.

Not a single study.

They had not done anything at all. "

"Now it is explained why in 2012 they were not able to allocate even a single cent to compensate for the terrible losses suffered, and still suffer, by the thousands of neighbors that were affected by the San Wenceslao flood," warns Mateos, who has taken advantage of the to highlight the "sensitivity and attention" that, on this occasion, the new central government has had, along with the efforts of the current Government Delegate, Diego Conesa, who has recently managed to unblock pending aid to alleviate the damages of the rainy season he suffered the Region of Murcia in 2016. Of that game, about 45,000 euros will come to the municipality of Lorca.

Thanks to the management of Diego Conesa have been able to "get out of the drawer" and "expedite" the pending aid City Councils that were affected in 2016.

"How different it would have been if, in 2012, the Government of Spain had been presided over by a President and a party that, like the current one, would have been sensitive to the damages we suffered in our land, registered with the same or even greater severity than the one suffered by other municipalities in 2016, because here the torrentiality of the waters led us to lament material and economic losses millionaires, but most importantly, human losses.

The flood of San Wenceslao, remember, had a balance of five dead in Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, and more than one hundred million euros in losses.

However, he assures that "with Rajoy and with the Popular Party, the only thing that those affected received was the greatest disdain and the greatest helplessness on the part of the Public Administrations".

Mateos is committed to continue insisting, in the hands of the neighbors, to the CHS to expedite the completion of pending projects, as well as the Regional Government to execute at once the works for the construction of the promised viaduct on the highway of Eagles on the bed of the Rambla de Biznaga.
