Meeting of the SEF with entrepreneurs of the new slaughterhouse to finalize the programming of training courses (03/12/2018)

Last September the Local Employment Roundtable of Lorca was formed, formed by trade unions, employers' associations, political groups, local government and regional administration, represented in this case by the Directorate of Employment and Training Service of the Region of Murcia (SEF).

In the course of that last meeting, the Spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, managed to extract from the Director of the SEF the commitment to program in Lorca training courses aimed at preparing workers for the meat industry and specifically for the new slaughterhouse that is built in the lots of the demolished cement factory in Lorca.

This morning, another step has been taken to make this training offer a reality.

The director of the SEF has visited the Lorca company, and has met with its management team and with the representatives of the workers to finalize the completion of these training courses in Lorca.

Pedro Sosa, who in his capacity as councilor of IU-V, also adds that of the President of the Works Committee of the group "La Comarca", which is currently building the facilities of the new slaughterhouse, announced that the meeting held this morning was has started the commitment to finance several training courses for a total of 60 students in this initial phase and whose candidates will be selected directly by the company.

The type of courses, Sosa reports, is called "level I", whose students are not required to be in possession of any specific academic degree.

A percentage of these students will be selected from the high districts of Lorca, which is an additional commitment also started by the mayor of IU-V to his company and which is part of the package of measures to combat the depopulation of the highlands of Lorca

Sosa recalled that it has been asking for a long time to train workers in the secondary sector, which has suffered in recent years a very important decline that makes us poorer all and contrasts with the amount of resources and public policy , not always successful, that has monopolized the primary sector;

a sector that, as is known, brings less added value to the economy and generates a more precarious, unstable and worse paid job.

Sosa affirms that the construction of the new slaughterhouse in Lorca is a millionaire bet that we should thank the employers of the sector and that the public administration now has to implement those measures that facilitate its implementation as soon as possible, including the training of workers.
