Lorca will receive 0 euros from the 12.5 million EDUSI funds requested, confirming the failure of the PP when requesting financing for the recovery of the Historic District (19/12/2018)

Mateos demands that the Sectorial Council on empowering the Historic District be summoned so that the Mayor explains the reasons why Lorca has once again been left out of this convocation and the alternatives planned to stop the deterioration and abandonment of the center of our city

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca and candidate for Mayor, Diego José Mateos has regretted that Lorca has been left out of the 22.3 million from the Edusi funds and has demanded the convocation of the Sectoral Council of Potenciación del Casco Histórico analyze the reasons for this third failure.

The Official State Gazette (BOE) published yesterday the final resolution by which the Ministry of Finance allocated 22.3 million euros for municipalities in the Region of Murcia to co-finance the projects included in the strategies of Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (EDUSI ) selected, among which is not the recovery of the Historic District of the city.

"Not a penny for Lorca."

This confirms, "the new failure of the Popular Party" at the time of requesting funds for the recovery of the Historic District from the EDUSI call.

"It has become clear that the Popular Party is synonymous with failure: every time they have requested EDUSI funds, Lorca remains permanently out, confirming the provisional resolution of May 2018, so it is evident that the political direction carried out to mark this strategy is manifestly wrong. "

Other municipalities of the Region of Murcia such as Águilas, Molina de Segura, Torres de Cotillas or Torre Pacheco have been able to work on this second call to receive these funds and allocate them to sustainable investments in their municipality

In view of this third political failure, Mateos has been forceful: "The recovery of the Historic District will never come if it depends on the Mayor and his governing team of the Popular Party."

"One party says that it has failed in the 2 calls for EDUSI funds, and also, when it has in its power to fund or create items for the strategic recovery of our Historic Center does not" because, remember, "in the latest budgets that the PP has approved for the City of Lorca have not included a single cent for the recovery of our historic center."

Mateos regrets that Gil Jódar has led to the loss of this "excellent opportunity" that would have meant the possibility of receiving this funding.

"Two requested calls, two unsuccessful calls, where Lorca has been left out again, this time, letting out 12.5 million euros, as announced by the government team on November 27, 2017"

"We have a Historical Helmet that is a diamond in the rough, we could say that it is the jewel in the crown, and it is unfortunate that it is dying little by little," he lamented.

"During the last years, and following the earthquake, it is true that very important actions have been carried out in terms of recovering the heritage, but there has been a lack of ambition and a project for the future," lamented Diego José Mateos.

"The Popular Party has squandered a unique opportunity, has lost a historic opportunity, to strategically revitalize our Historic District," and the proof is that the investments made for the recovery and enhancement of the main monuments in the wake of the earthquake "It has not served to give life" to a historical site "turned off, and that deteriorates by leaps and bounds".

"The historic center needs life, like Lorca, and for this from the PSOE we bet on the implementation of an ambitious strategic plan, multidisciplinary, with fewer patches and more long-term actions to make our center an attractive place to live, to buy, to invest, to be visited, and ultimately, to return Lorca to the place of reference it deserves in the regional and regional context ".
