The City Council requires the current Government of Spain to approve a Decree Law to maintain the IBI bonus for those affected by the 2011 earthquakes (14/01/2019)

Those affected by the earthquakes can not depend on the current executive being able to gather the necessary support to approve the General State Budgets.

They have approved 25 Law Decrees for things that have interested them, and Lorca can not be less.

The Councilor for Economy and Finance in the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martinez, has demanded that the Government of Spain, as it has done with many other issues, some of them of lesser importance, already approved by Decree Law the maintenance of the bonus of 50% of the payment of the Real Property Tax (IBI) to the people affected by the earthquakes in 2011, respecting the commitment that the successive national executives have shown to Lorca to date.

Martinez Carrasco has stressed that the current central government has broken the record of approval of Decrees Act, taking out a total of 25 in just 7 months, but none of them wanted to introduce what we are claiming from Lorca, and that is justice for those who have suffered so much from the effects of the 2011 earthquakes. We are talking about a primordial issue, and that it only depends on the political will of the government.

If you want, tomorrow you can approve the IBI bonus, and that is what we claim from Lorca.

It is good that the draft PGE includes this measure, but it is clearly insufficient.

The councilman of Economy has stressed that those affected by earthquakes do not deserve to have to rely on the weakness of the current central government to know if the 50% bonus of the IBI will be respected.

It would be, in any case, out of place to try to use this measure as blackmail or excuse, since this government has so far not wanted to negotiate the national accounts with the parties that are constitutionalists.

We must remember that, although all the previous general budgets of the State already included this bonus of the IBI, the PSOE has voted against 7 years in a row, also in 2018.

Juan Francisco Martínez has indicated that those affected by earthquakes do not deserve to remain under the instability and uncertainty of the national political context that we are witnessing today.

Lorca demands, at this time, certainty, security and maintain the degree of commitment we have achieved by all administrations.
