The Mayor has anticipated that the goal is to send between 100 and 150 archival letters over the next few weeks, "we share the concerns of those affected and we want to continue advancing in the resolution of this issue."
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, reported that this morning have been sent by the City Council a total of 127 letters containing file notifications for people who received public financial aid for the repair or reconstruction of their homes after the earthquakes of the year 2011. We are working for those affected by this issue, just as I promised to do at the time.
In fact, we demanded that this issue be resolved, getting an adequate regulatory framework established, which resulted in the adoption of a Law tailored to the Regional Assembly.
Fulgencio Gil explained that these letters are a "key" document in the process of justification of the aid received, which have the signature of this Mayor and the General Director of Urban Development of the Ministry of Development.
We are already facing a positive process and that is not going to stop until we achieve the solution of all these cases.
It is an unstoppable measure that we managed to execute after coordinating the work of public administrations, establishing a practical and effective mechanism.
In fact, the goal is to continue dating between 100 and 150 weekly until the notification process is completed, since we fully share the people's concerns to that effect, and we want to keep progressing.
The Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, and the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, signed a few weeks ago the agreement that establishes a fast and agile procedure to give immediate solution to the neighbors.
Thus the City Council has been directly involved in this process through the technical staff of the Office, which will call in the coming days to each of those affected pending justification of the grant to make them reach the model of the simplified account and help them to complete it.
In this situation there are 2,748 people.
The Consistory, in this line, works as a collaborating body and manager of the Office of Reconstruction, carrying out this work of information and advice to each of the affected neighbors in the processing of their files.
The objective is to establish a fast and agile processing of this phase of the aid to give immediate solution to the neighbors and to put ourselves once again at your disposal to solve your doubts, help them to complete the simplified account of justification of the aid and provide the documentation necessary
The Mayor of Lorca has reiterated to the Government of Spain that he expressly waives the interest on late payment of aid to those affected by the earthquakes that he is currently demanding.
We must point out that, after the insistent work carried out by the City Council, we agreed with the Regional Government to decline asking the affected parties for their part, something that was approved at the time.
What we now want is for the central government to do the same and stop the embargoes that may be caused to the victims.
This question also depends on the political interest they want to have with Lorca.
For several months now we have been demanding that they renounce these late-payment interests, but time continues to pass and they are not able to clear the uncertainty they have caused to those affected.
