The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, has informed that the registration period of the courses and workshops program offered by the Cultural Resources Center (Universidad Popular) for the second semester of the year is now open.
Those interested can choose among 88 courses, of which 14 are new and 10 of them will be free.
These will be developed between February and June, with the number of places offered 1,400.
Agustín Llamas has pointed out that "under the slogan" creative space for all "we present the programming of the Cultural Resources Center for the second quarter of the year, in which continuity is maintained in relation to the previous one, but we also expand the offer by offering new activities that have been demanded by users and that have the objective of satisfying the interest to train of more than 1,500 people who carry out our courses during each year, in this sense it is worth noting that in the previous four months 1,165 people were enrolled ".
The Councilor for Culture explained that "the area of ​​foreign language learning is made up of 12 courses, of which English and French should be highlighted as the most demanded, from A1 level to B2, like Japanese; There are three English courses for people over 65 years of age and Arabic, and in this quarter there is a fun English course for children and elementary students.In traditional crafts and design it is important to highlight the furniture restoration courses, as well as as the empowerment of Lorca embroidery workshops (silk and gold). Of the 10 courses in this area, in which Patchwork is maintained, the novelties are creative sewing, the design of commercial spaces and Lorca ceramic.
Llamas added that "11 courses form the area of ​​arts and audiovisuals, being a novelty the introductory workshop to the world of cinema and the interpretation with the filming of a short film about gender violence. with script, production and direction and interpretation shorts directed by Benito Rabal, as well as
the courses of photography and photoshop.
This area is completed with two courses of painting in their different artistic techniques, which will be taught at the Municipal School of Plastic Arts.

The UP also, through the Spanish Federation of Popular Universities and with charge to the 0.7 state income tax, carries out two free courses in which 30 women participate and which are related to welfare and labor insertion.
