Neighborhood upset by a 26-meter-high telephone antenna in the Vereda de la Palma (08/02/2019)

The municipal spokesman of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, appeared this morning before the media to show their support for a group of residents of the Vereda de la Palma who, in just a week, have seen how it stood in front of their homes a gigantic mobile phone antenna of 26 meters high that has already begun to disrupt its quality of life since its broadcasts cause interference in television and tele-assistance devices.

Sosa has affirmed that all the fronts that have been opened in the municipality of Lorca against the telephony antennas and against the powerful companies that install them have always been settled with the triumph of the companies and their interests, in front of the demands of the neighbors that finally have to support the existence of facilities that entail a series of associated risks absolutely demonstrated.

The regulation that regulates this type of facilities, maintains the councilor of IU-V, has always been changing in favor of the telephone companies that behave like a powerful pressure group that turns the will of legislators and rulers, until the point that at present they do not even have to obtain an administrative license for its installation, just a simple "responsible statement".

But also, Sosa recalled, the City of Lorca is not even collecting the corresponding rate for private use or special use of the local public domain these companies, as we have been requesting from IU-V for more than three years in all debates annual tax ordinances.

The antenna in question is located in the bag of land subdivided sector that exists behind the sports complex Europe, a place that has to develop properly and where the local government is taken facilities such as the logistics center of LIMUSA that have also received neighborhood response.

The neighbors are going to start a campaign to collect signatures to dismantle the antenna arguing that their health and quality of life should be above the interests of these companies that should look for more remote places and without surrounding population to locate these infrastructures.
