Diego José Mateos highlights the need to build "as soon as possible" a roundabout to regulate traffic and improve security in the access to the Castle from the La Parroquia road (11/02/2019)

The PSOE denounces that the PP has eliminated the construction of this roundabout and demands that it be retaken to improve the safety of this road: "We do not understand why they came to expropriate land valued at more than 12,000 euros, so that in the end they have eliminated this project, also damaging the emblematic aesthetic of the Castle of scenic interest and also protected by the General Plan "

The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has asked Gil Jódar to clarify the reasons why he has "disappeared" the construction project of a roundabout that was planned to improve access to the Castle from the RM-701, also known as the road to La Parroquia.

"We are talking about a point of conflicting traffic, where it is necessary to act, as soon as possible, to provide security and improve visibility."

Mateos regretted that this project "has disappeared" from the forecasts of the Ministry of Development and the City of Lorca, which makes the project to improve access to the Castle of Lorca is "lame" by not including the construction of this roundabout "so necessary".

"A year and a half ago, the Plenary approved the expropriation of several lands, worth more than 12,000 euros, and through a joint appraisal procedure."

"We do not understand why these expropriations were approved, recently ratified by the forced expropriation jury, to later charge this project."

"Why do they expropriate plots of land if they do not execute this project later? Do they do the dossiers and projects without first assessing what it costs?"

The socialist spokesman regrets that it is not the first time that the Popular Party falls into this type of "errors", coming to expropriate housing and plots, and then lose projects.

"The same thing has happened as with the construction of the access road to the Barrios Altos de Lorca, where they expropriated a score of neighbors, and then loaded this project, by the way, essential for the decongestion of traffic and the structuring of the city" .

Mateos assures that these issues are nothing more than the result of the "unintended and improvised" management of a Mayor and a government team that "are not in what they are", since all they care about is "the photo and the ad ", instead of improving the day to day of the Lorca.

In addition to the 12,000 euros in expropriations, others of the "visible damages" of this "inconclusive" project is the "rupture" of the hillside of the Castle.

"Not only have they not completed this project, but they have also damaged the emblematic aesthetic of the hillside of our Castle of Lorca, which besides being of scenic interest, is protected by the General Plan, so what they have fact is completely illegal. "

"Because of this nefarious management, the image we give to the thousands of drivers who pass the A-7 and cross the tunnel of the highway is a cemented bald, which disfigures the slope of the Castle."

Therefore, Mateos has requested the immediate repopulation of this damaged environment.

Mateos has demanded that Gil Jódar work to resume this project "necessary to improve visibility at a junction, in addition, poorly marked."

"For us, it is a priority to undertake, as soon as possible, this project, which for many years has been announced, promised to the neighbors, and which urges to improve road safety in this section, and certainly, to make efficient use of public resources. "
