The CEO of the Municipal Company Limusa, Juan Francisco Martínez, reported this morning that the City of Sol de Lorca scout group, in collaboration with the City Council, has undertaken during this month of February an awareness-raising action on the recycling of packaging of domestic glass in its direct area of ​​influence, the old town.

Juan Francisco Martínez explained that "the initiative, consisting of a newsletter and even a door-to-door pick-up, is part of the Scouts Recycle Glass campaign, which from December until this next February 28th organizes Ecovidrio in collaboration with the Scout Federation of Explorers of Murcia (EXMU) and the participation of the Lorca Consistory through its municipal cleaning company Limusa ".

The CEO highlighted that "the objective is to raise awareness and encourage Scouting groups in the Region of Murcia about the benefits of selective collection of glass containers, with activities developed by the Scout groups in their regular meetings. It contemplates a competition between the scout groups to see which collects more glass containers in the container closest to their headquarters, identified with the image of the campaign and personalized with the name of each group.The one of Lorca is located in the Glorieta de Saint Vincent ".

Martinez has indicated that "the campaign lasts three months, from December 2018 to February 2019, and the results are published monthly on the website www.ecolatras.es/promociones/ The three scout groups that recycle more kilos of glass in their container, will receive an ecological kit to generate electricity from solar energy composed of a 10-watt solar panel, a battery and 3 LED lamps ".

This campaign is developed in collaboration with the 34 scout groups of EXMU in 11 towns in the Region of Murcia.

In Lorca, a scout group is made up of 320 associates aged between 8 and 21 years old, in charge of 60 volunteers as educators.

The Edil de Limusa congratulated this entity "for showing once again the involvement of young Lorca with society, especially in actions that have to do with the improvement of the environment and the collection of garbage. Lorca offers youth a model of leisure and fun different and full of important values ​​in our society such as solidarity, responsibility and commitment, so thanks to all these actions our municipality is a national reference for scouts of the whole country".
