Route of the Nazarí Border, from Castillo de Lorca to Vélez Blanco (22/02/2019)

On Sunday, February 24 will be a new tourist-literary route for singles based on the best-seller "The abyss on the border" by the writer Francisco José Motos Lorca.

This tourist-literary route, based on the novel "El abismo en la frontera", is an innovative proposal to get to know the details of one of the most important places on the eastern border between the kingdom of Castile and the Nasrid kingdom of Granada in the middle of the fifteenth century.

This new route, which will be the third to be organized, is aimed at individual visitors, families and the general public who wish to spend a pleasant day of coexistence while discovering the events narrated in the novel that could be developed in this medieval frontier world.

The route is organized by Lorca Taller del Tiempo, with the collaboration of the Lorca City Council, the Vélez Blanco City Council, the Andalusian Center of Letters and the Junta de Andalucía, the author of the novel being in charge of guiding the participants .

The tour begins at the Visitor Center of Lorca, where you will start to visit the Castle of Lorca, one of the central places of this border area.

From there the displacement to the Castle of Xiquena is realized, castle that was the outpost of the border.

After that a stop is made for lunch and in the afternoon we visit the Castillo de Vélez Blanco, after which we return to the starting point.

It will be the author himself, the writer Francisco José Motos Lorca, who will accompany the participants on the route to discover the main points of the same that appear in the novel and the intricacies of the clashes between the main protagonists of that historical moment: 1465, when two ways of understanding the world faced death in this border area, Muslims and Christians (led by such emblematic characters as Alonso Fajardo el Bravo) struggled to define the fate of their kingdoms.

All the institutions involved in this beautiful route, its author and the populations for which it is going to take place encourage potential participants to do it and to know first-hand the stories and places that marked the border between two worlds and that have been the inspiration of the novel that serves as the basis for the journey.
