The Councilman of Emergencies of the City council of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, has informed this morning that the Municipal Consistory, through the Service of Emergencies and Civil Protection, will count on new information that will allow a better answer before adverse meteorological phenomena.
It is a network of stations that will serve as a tool for prevention and will be distributed in the high districts and southern area of ​​the municipality, complementing the stations of other agencies such as the State Meteorological Agency, the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura and the network Agrometeorological of IMIDA, as well as those of individuals who love meteorology.
Juan Miguel Bayonas has indicated that "with this digital network of automatic meteorological stations, along with the information received by official bodies (AEMET), more climate data will be available that will enable preventive protocols, such as informing citizens to through social networks or other media when the environmental conditions of wind, rain, humidity and temperatures are dangerous risk of forest fires, floods or episodes of strong winds.This initiative, is a new breakthrough in improving the means of the Department of Emergencies with the purpose of guaranteeing a more effective response of the municipal services before this type of emergencies ".
The Councilor for Emergencies explained that "these are weather stations that will provide real-time and specific measurements of the environmental conditions of the municipality with data transmission through the Internet and update every minute automatically, so from any computer or mobile device with internet access, meteorological data can be monitored anywhere, anytime, or downloaded for processing by means of specific software, and it is also possible to configure the sending of alerts by email in real time for weather conditions, such as strong winds, intense rains with the possibility of flooding, etc. For example, when there are rains that exceed certain liters in a specific period of time, a preventive protocol for closing roads or restricting passage in areas sensitive to floods may be activated, such as is established in the Special Pro Plan
